National League 19/20
My last post about the National League (hopefully ever).
Here's who I think will be in the top 7 at the end of next season, along with reasons why. Let me know what you think.
1. Torquay - teams coming into the national league from the division below tend to do well, reckon they have the momentum.
2. Yeovil Town - strong team at this level
3. Fylde - getting closer to their 2022 target
4. Stockport - . Similar to Torquay
5. Wrexham - unless they make some serious changes, they are doomed to suffer play-off agony over and again.
6. Chesterfield - Remind me of Orient a bit. Managed to stabilize in the second half of the season. Reckon they could come back to life again.
7. Dagenham & Redbridge - can see the owners putting a bit on money in the team for a play-off push
Obviously, I could look like a fool come April 2020, but it's all fun and games.

Re: National League 19/20
I can't see Wrexham being up there. They were a very limited team, with a decent defence.
I was impressed by Barnet who I think could do well. Agree on Chesterfield. Can't see any of the playoff teams bar Fylde having similar seasons again. There will be a surprise package like Solihull or Harrogate.
I can't see Notts County faring wall, based on Orient and Chesterfield's experiences so far.

Re: National League 19/20
I don't disagree with any of the teams mentioned. In respect to Wrexham if they can find the right appointment as manager then I can see them getting out of the league. Not sure if their is a vacancy, but the managers role is so important and to be fair they've had few recently. They need a strong hand guiding them and stability in that role and I think you'll find they would be real challengers then.

Re: National League 19/20
Have always had an interest in ex league teams, and having been there ourselves now, think my interest in the National League will remain.
Think the suggestions for top seven are all valid, and good to see Torquay and Stockport back up next season – what a good move it was by Torquay getting Gary Johnson in. Fancy Chesterfield myself for top spot.

They need a new forward line as well.Thor wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 1:37 pm I don't disagree with any of the teams mentioned. Re: National League 19/20
I reckon Yeovil will struggle . Even if their better players are under contract, I can't see wanting to hang around in the National League. The same thing could happen to Notts Co.

2 of the 4 teams that got promoted into the league this season - Braintree and Havant & Waterlooville - went straight back down...

This has more to do with the North being stronger than the South I think. Also Salford are a slightly special case.Esteban wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 4:40 pmand the other 2 finished in the top 7. Johnson is the sort of manager Wrexham need. Good appointment by Torquay though.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 4:08 pm Have always had an interest in ex league teams, and having been there ourselves now, think my interest in the National League will remain.

Re: National League 19/20
Far too early to predict as the turnover of players at this level is so high.
I'd like one of the teams with a plastic pitch to win promotion to see if they think it worthwhile back to grass.

Think Barnet will do an ‘us’
Struggled in their first season down, then went on a good run and finished the season well. Was impressed with them when we played them at their place. A couple of really good midfielders.

Re: National League 19/20
I thought Barnet were one of the best teams we played, and at their place they ripped us apart time and time again.
O.k.salford got 3 against us, but that was because of terrible marking at crosses.
Chesterfield will re group and be thereabouts.

Re: National League 19/20
Now we are out of that sh*t fest of a league they should go back to the old seeking re-election process.
The O''s are quite popular and should ensure we never end up back there.
Also the added bonus of never having to play Boreham Wood, Bromley or Sutton ever again

If I was a betting man I would put money on Stockport and Fylde to win promotion next season. I can only see Fylde getting stronger next season and Stockport have the momentum to go on to do really well .

I agree and this Bertie Big Bollox Premiership Teams sort of attitude isn't really my style.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 4:08 pm Have always had an interest in ex league teams, and having been there ourselves now, think my interest in the National League will remain.

Least we can remember how far we sank because obviously, other teams will go through what we went through with dodgy owners and money troubles.
Before JE came in it looked like we were going to sink further.
My interest in the Non League is stronger than it ever was while the BBC football pundits will be drooling over the Premier League as usual.
