Harrolds role hasn't been sorted yet. I'd imagine they'll both be coaching jobs in the clubs academy - something like the under15s, 16s etc.

By the same token I can never understand why more of the local ethnic population don't come to games. Perhaps they don't care.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:12 pm Outside of Jobi, for a club based in East London, it's disappointing to see no other BAME coaches or board members at the club.

Re: Alex Lawless coming back to coach at the club
Ling binned off a successful BAME performance coach (someone he didn't appoint) a year ago, replacing him with one of his chums who has presided over a demonstrable reduction in our squad's fitness levels. Embleton is known to be chums with a distinctly iffy part of our fanbase, many of whom are likely to be out in town this Saturday on a counter-protest against BLM. Many of the players who fell out of favour this year, or whose rehabs were botched were BAME (Turley, McAnuff, Ekpiteta, Widdowson).Top of the JES wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:25 pmVery topical but I have no doubt the club would'nt hesitate to make such an appointment if it was someone who could add something to the club, our physio Ketan Patel is of Asian decent btw and we have Brian Saah managing the Academy, Miguel De Souza was involved with our scouting set up don't know if he still is, We have had BAME coaches working with the age groups in the academy. Orient have always had there fair share of BAME players and staff more than many other clubs I suspect.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 12:12 pm Outside of Jobi, for a club based in East London, it's disappointing to see no other BAME coaches or board members at the club.
Teague is from Texas, not generally known for it's enlightened and progressive views on race, and also often seen enjoying the company of iffy persons from our fanbase.
To be fair to Travis, he has pro-actively made anti-racist statements that predate this latest wave of protests.
All very circumstantial, I know, and hardly evidence of institutional racism. But it doesn't assure me that we don't have a much more insidious form of background prejudice permeating the club.

That's just ridiculous. Trying to associate people at the club like Teague because of where he was born, Embleton who is doing his job mixing with fans (of all types) and accusing Ling of binning off someone who was BAME for Non football reasons is a bit strong. Travis statement wasn't a personal one it was made on behalf of the football club.
Ketan Patel and Brian Sarah were hired by Ling both BAME, one of the clubs longest serving academy coaches Errol is BAME, there are several other coaches at age level helping out the academy, You can dress it up whatever way you like no evidence in my eyes that the club is making any sort of decisions based on race just footballing ones.

Associating Teague's views with where he is from is practically racist in itself.

Brian Saah is coaching at youth level no?

You make some interesting points and most of them should be looked into but to suggest someone is racist purely because they're from Texas is beyond insulting.

Re: Alex Lawless coming back to coach at the club
All the talk of old boys coming back to coach, Aaron McLean is now out of a job having been a forward coach at ‘free scoring’ Posh. I’d love to see him come home.
