I've gone for Mid-table mediocrity (which ill be happy with). however, failure to bring in a decent midfielder, a pacey winger and a decent 3rd striker over the next week (ill settle for a midfielder in Jan if needs be), I think we'll really struggle, unless we get very lucky with injuries.
Not a bad guess. How did everyone else do?

If you was expecting midtable medicority and a bit of a struggle, why did you stop going mid way through the season then and start complaining that we weren't higher?

Sorry, I don't understand the logic behind it? Your initial expectations were basically met from what I can see?

FWIW - I had the same expectations and had us down as 18th.

We’ll need to sign Cisse or somebody similar to him in midfield or we’ll struggle

If anyone thinks that next season will be anything other than a struggle then they are deluded

Here’s the alias again. Not posting anything until I do then popping up!

What’s my realistic prediction of where we would finish (which was correct, why thank you) got to do with my expectations? With the budget that Ling had (top 8) it’s a disappointing finish. And I was more disappointed in our style of play and management which was depressing to watch week in week out.

Hope that’s ok, sir.

I voted for struggle to avoid the drop, and same for the coming season.
Crap manager, Crap DOF, no midfield, unless they sign Cisse, and too many NL players in the squad.
If the club hold onto Ruel, they will finish around 10 to 12th, but if i were him, id know i could play higher.
With the country falling apart, football isn't the highest priority for me at the present time

So disappointing, not as if the manager died or something.

Sorry if i had better things to do with my weekends than watch the drab football. I dont care about where we finished, because of the circumstances, but Justins death has nothing to do with the poor decisions made by the board on the contract extensions, management appointments, etc... Obviously, when that happened it was going to be a hard season. No one expected promotion but we could have done better.

Are you the big shot btw PW? reads like you.

No I don't hide behind an alias to be offensive or stupid. No sign of it being an alias either.

I'd be suprised if we had a top 8 budget, top half (maybe top ten) fair enough but I'd have thought that the likes of Plymouth, Swindon, Bradford, Port Vale, Scunthorpe, Mansfield, Salford and Forest Green would've possibly been bigger than ours right now.

Regardless, we'd just come up from the league below and most teams usually being promoted usually have a bottom 8 squad for the league they've just been promoted to (Unless you throw money at the squad and completely overhaul it), we was no different to this, infact we was easily weaker having lost our two main strikers and manager in tragic circumstance.

Top 8 budget in your eyes, bottom 8 squad in reality. I try and look at the quality of the squad rather than how much it costs to begin with.

Won't disagree that the board made too many errors in terms of sentiment around certain players contracts which didn't help like Alabi, Brill, Ling, Dayton and Coulson - although I think he's a good squad player.

In terms of Ross Embleton, he is young and still learning in his first proper managerial role. Next season will be his first proper full season as full time head coach with no interim period. I'm prepared to give him more of a chance and be as patient as possible with him as he is young manager and all managers need to start somewhere and learn from their mistakes which they will always make.

We was patient with Martin Ling for 2 seasons 04/05 and 05/06, so I'm happy to do this with Embleton as well, if this means a few more ups and downs in the next few months then so be it.

If after ten games of next season we're in the bottom 6, then fair enough unless something happens I'll accept it isn't working this time.

I like to try and give first time managers time more than say and experienced one, buts just my opinion - I believe more patience is needed in football in general, hence why you and I see things differently on a footballing perspective.
