No I think it's wrong. But just because I didn't say it before this post doesn't mean I do not think it, you just hadn't asked and I've posted about other things instead.
Equally, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. As my penis will testify.

Regarding your last point;Ornchurch wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 8:13 pmI believe the point is that no one rioted to protest against Blakelock being hacked to death by rioters.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:24 pmNo whites Rioted ?West Side Story wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:18 pm The sheer hypocrisy on here is staggering. Jean Charles da Silva e de Menezes an innocent unarmed Brazilian was blasted apart by UK police using hollow bullets. He was by no means white. Dusky would be the best description ( this was one of the reasons he was shot ). Unfortunately he didn't fit the right racial stereo type for mass protests. Most protesters at his death were Brazilian.
A good few of the Blacks killed in similar circumstances have been gangsters. The protesters make life a little more comfortable for the drug dealers for a while, so the police back off. PC Keith Blakelock was hacked to death whilst on duty. No whites rioted.
People protest, when it suits them. But remember, a lot of UK police don't have guns. They can be violent to Blacks. Racism can be everywhere from one ethnic group to another. The UK police have a great record compared to USA, France and almost everywhere else. I cannot see why there is hysteria towards the police in the UK right now in lockdown. It is potty.
Tottenham was full of white people rioting with black people , not against them.
In the same way that I have not noticed anyone saying that the policewomen being injured yesterday was wrong.
What do you suggest ? Banning traffic lights on the streets of London in case a copper rides into them?

Nothing to do with the horse being spooked by the setting off of fireworks and the throwing of Boris bikes?

Calm down Snowflake, don’t get offended. It’s not that hard to imagine who’d be offended by what, even you should be able to fathom that.
Amazing
And regardless, no ones telling anyone what they should be offended why. The people who pulled down the statue are

I'm not white either, and nobody of any colour has the right to tell me what I should or shouldn't find offensive. Furthermore black people and people of any race are not a homogenous, identikit group so so-called 'progressives' need to stop talking in terms of what "they" as a collective would be offended by - some black people are offended by certain things, others aren't.
Also, I understand perfectly why people are protesting and behaving the way they are. I just don't support them or their actions, and as a black man they do not speak for me. And Covid is totally relevant in this case as people's lives are potentially at risk even though they have nothing to do with these protests. You can bang on about the right to protest all you want, unfortunately viruses don't pack up and decide not to infect people because they're demonstrating for a worthy cause. Not to mention that people are gathering en masse risking spreading a virus that disproportionately affects BAME people.
I'm sure that makes me part of the problem though

Re: People Are Quick to Hijack A Protest
A very interesting thread ….
Political actions and failures by the rulers of the UK and USA (Johnson and Trump) have reached mega devastation and loss of lives.
World leaders!
We are all supposed to be in lockdown and 'just shut up'. Follow the governments' instructions, do as you're told - even if they defy logic and sense. Don't ask questions.
FFS: why now a quarantine other than making Patel feel important? Arrive in the UK, go shopping, meet your lover, travel on public transport wherever you like - but after that you must go into self imposed quarantine for 2 weeks, no pay while in quarantine but the Tory police might hunt you down for a big fine.
This policy is insane in substance but it is all about the Tories being determined to 'rule' even when insane.
I reckon that part of the protest in the US and here is to assert "Don't take us for mugs".

I see the Churchill and Ghandi statues have received the graffiti treatment as well as someone trying to burn the Cenotaph.

The vast majority of coppers do a very good job; in ever-increasing, difficult circumstances.
However, there is clearly an element who believe themselves to be outside of the law. So irrespective of whether you are Left- wing, Right- wing or even completely down the middle, this cannot be condoned.

Re: People Are Quick to Hijack A Protest
I agree. There is a bit of a difference with the Police, however. The problem with the police is that when there's a bad apple - they do tend to close ranks and protect the bad one. Any objection to the actions of one or two is seen as an attack on the whole, and they all go into defence - even of the indefensible.JimbO wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 11:39 am keLike in all jobs there's good ones and bad ones.point nine one eight wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 10:31 amNot often I agree with you, however your spot on with this one, good post.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 6:46 pm There's no hysteria from me towards our Police.

See the riot squad in the States who all resigned in support of their 2 colleagues who were actually filmed pushing over and injuring the old chap. See the very few who will come out and criticise colleagues. I know there are whistleblowers , but it's amazing how many bad apples get to carry on being bad, without, it seems, any fear of action from within.
It's not just among the rank and file - there's an organisation-level mindset that they can do no wrong. Look at the propaganda onslaught after Hillsboro - look at the misinformation campaign started immediately after the killing of jean Charles de Menezes. Their opening position is always "the force is in the right" - rather than "let's find out what happened".
So it's true that the vast majority of coppers do a good job in the main, but there's an institutional and individual reluctance to accept criticism, and that erodes public trust - just at the time when we really, really need the public to trust and cooperate with them.

Partly, yes. But also this was before Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, as many rolling news channels as we have now and at a time where people had a different opinion of their news outlets. I.E taking more at face value.Disoriented wrote: ↑Tue Jun 09, 2020 12:44 pm Where were all these people when Menezes was murdered? Were they not ‘woken’ then?
So mobilising globally was a very different think. Even nationally.
(But also many of those people that did stand up for JCDM would be in London now on this issue, I'd imagine).
