The violence by the few and the non-social distancing by more than a few has the effect of turning many people against the protest. The result is that the cause gets diluted, the opposite of what the protestors were trying to achieve, but was sadly entirely predictable.

Black lives matter – of course they do, and the overwhelming majority of the population already agree. My simple instinct is that all lives matter equally, and that’s the education message which must continue to be given. I won’t support any group that focuses on colour for I see it as divisive, with looming overtones of an Orwellian society where some people are seen as more equal than others. And on that note I can’t help but wonder what the reaction would be if someone organised a ‘White Lives Matter’ march.

The sheer hypocrisy on here is staggering. Jean Charles da Silva e de Menezes an innocent unarmed Brazilian was blasted apart by UK police using hollow bullets. He was by no means white. Dusky would be the best description ( this was one of the reasons he was shot ). Unfortunately he didn't fit the right racial stereo type for mass protests. Most protesters at his death were Brazilian.
A good few of the Blacks killed in similar circumstances have been gangsters. The protesters make life a little more comfortable for the drug dealers for a while, so the police back off. PC Keith Blakelock was hacked to death whilst on duty. No whites rioted.
People protest, when it suits them. But remember, a lot of UK police don't have guns. They can be violent to Blacks. Racism can be everywhere from one ethnic group to another. The UK police have a great record compared to USA, France and almost everywhere else. I cannot see why there is hysteria towards the police in the UK right now in lockdown. It is potty.
