Songs with Meaning
We live in a world which at times just does not care. If we all just did a little bit to help each other the world will be a better place. It’s down to us all to change and to change the world we live in.
Then I see that George Floyd was murdered by the Police yesterday and I thought about a song that was relevant back when it was written and it’s still relevant today. I’ve copied the video below with the lyrics on it for people to read and listen and understand the message. Tupac was right back then, just as his words still ring out today.

Re: Songs with Meaning
Brilliant song that sums up yet another pointless murder of a black person, by gung-ho cops.
The USA is one screwed up Country; indeed, it only appears to be getting progressively worse.
I wonder why that is?

Road to Hell - Chris Rea. This song also says many things about today's world.

Re: Songs with Moaning
Last night I was watching a documentary on Dark Side of the Moon and it was superb, just like the song you mention from that album. It's a very powerful and very moving piece of music with Clare Torry's vocals absolutely amazing.
It's my favourite album as it encompasses so much through things we see every day. Truly inspiring.

Re: Songs with Meaning
Here is another song that once again has lyrics that are so relevant today as they were when it was written. They are probably more poignant today than they have ever been.

'Sunday Bloody Sunday'.
What a great song. It really encapsulates the frustration of a Sunday, doesn't it? You wake up in the morning, you've got to read all the Sunday papers, the kids are running round, you've got to mow the lawn, wash the car, and you think "Sunday, bloody Sunday!".

Love the song. So I'm going to post the link.
We could also through in N.W.A "f*** da Police", but I will go with this song by Rage Against The Machine which was inspired by the LA riots. "Killing in the Name Off"

Summer Holiday
Things can only get Better
The Laughing Police Man
Look on the bright side of life
Jerusalem
I am a woman

Re: Songs with Meaning
What about some poetry with meaning?
One of the greatest poems ever written and full of meaning;
On yonder hill there stands a coo
It must have moved cos it's nae there noo
Just gets me every time

Re: Songs with Meaning
I heard this song the other day and thought how appropriate the words were. I've heard it a few times now and it's a good song and I'd never thought I'd say that about Barry Manilow! A little positive in amongst a whole load of negatives right now.
