Bandoff - Cheese Edition - Grand Final - Vote Here

Post by StillSpike »

So it's Stilton Vs Camembert for the Boarding Grand Final of Cheeses

Image

Slightly disappointed that Mozzerella didn't somehow manage to beat the blue veiny one, but - that's Bandoff.

In the 2nd semifinal, it was very much a catchweight contenst with the well-fancied Bert cruising through.

Remember - don't just vote - give us your serving suggestions and recipes too !

As coincidence would have it Mrs Gold made a potato and butternut squash bake with Stilton yesterday It was superb.

I have therefore voted for Camembert on the grounds that I still hope to go to the Dordogne on July for a month.

Camembert - Place your big softy in a cocottine, drizzle with honey and bake at 200 degrees until cheese is bubbly and golden on top. Top with fresh figs or dried dates and own the big spoon. Aproveitar!

Stilton. Spoon and a pint of port. That is all.

I always insert garlic and rosemary into the camembert before baking, the result is delicious.

Meh. Both are decent occasional treats, but how they’ve got this far is beyond me. Can you imagine eating or using either regularly?

Reckon Cheddar would've won this had it been in place of stilton

Can't believe it's so close.

Or that I care. Strange what lockdown does to a person.

So Stilton shades it - well done the stinky one.

A follow-up question - Scoop it out or cut a wedge ? How do YOU take it ?

In fairness, Stilton was joint highest polling cheese in the group stage, with 23 votes, and beating the following cheeses in the Group A

Red Leicester
Roquefort
Halloumi
Philadelphia
Port Salut
Manchego
Cashel Blue
Comté

It then went on to beat:

Gorgonzola
Cheddar
Mozzerella
and finally Camembert

in the knockout rounds. I don't think we can begrudge it its title.
