Re: Coronavirus
Another day, another sh*t show of unclear and uncoordinated guidance. In a great new initiative every care home now had a named clinician, as far as I can gather this is another person to send reports to, with slightly different bits of information needed to all the others that get sent and their main role will be for others to point us in their direction when we need advice and for them to point us back in the other direction - either the CCG, NHS England, The London Coronavirus Response Cell (no one seems to have a scooby what they do) or various parts of the local authority. I think we also get a weekly phonecall to see how we are, which is great if I have any questions about medication as our allocated clinician is a pharmacist rather than someone with any knowledge of running care homes.
Can't bring myself to read the track and trace guidance such as it is yet but I'll be amazed if there's been any thought to what happens if you tell at least 50% of a care homes staff to isolate because one of their colleagues has tested positive regardless of any measures that are in place to stop the spread of infection.

We are all still well, if any of us felt we did not know how to conduct ourselves in keeping distance we would not attend, common sense and observation is required. keep aware is the key and will be a long time, life must go on.BoniO wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 9:20 amThink you may be slightly missing the point that it's not about if anyone complains but whether the virus is passed on.point nine one eight wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 11:29 pmHeyO wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 10:33 pm
Madness to go.
Did you have any VE day parties in your streets, In our culdisac street 27 people came out with their tables and chairs, drinks food music all on hand we even hand one neighbour who was a zuma dance teacher, we put goals up in the road for the children to play footie. In the village as a whole their was a party in every street, no police came, no one complained, from 3:30pm to 8PM. No complaints anywhere from anybody to anybody

Re: Coronavirus
If you keep social distancing at 2 meters most people will keep a distance of 1 meter. If you do 1 meter people will think it's OK to stand more closely. It's a Psychological thing!
I do feel for the businesses and hopefully in time they will be able to get back to some normality and be able to break even this year.
Regarding Sport behind closed doors! I missed all kinds of sports like everybody else but at the moment, I can do without. I'd rather see the sport with atmosphere rather than just seeing the sport for the sake of it.
Oh yes, I'm concerned about Democracy in the world but I'm going to continue walking and jogging and not overburden myself at the same time.

Most lines designating social distancing boundaries are laughably short of 2m apart anyway.

I can't get my head around metres; so I measure in Kwame Ampadu's.
In other words, at a very safe distance of around 15 feet from anyone else going past.

Dont really get what's changed? Vallance just said that the R rate is still close to one.
Why open schools now and not 2 weeks ago? Or why not wait another 2 weeks until the R number comes down?
Confusing.

Still a lot of people dying and we seem to have become inured to seeing the numbers. That's what this governments legacy is.

Mr Whitty didn't look too pleased when the Dimwit said you could have a BBQ.
It's ok if you wash your hands, righto, but you are not supposed to go in the house.

Re: Coronavirus
Personally, I have been involved in many major projects over the years (both here and abroad) - not that your question has any relevance whatsoever with the incompetence demonstrated by this Tory Government.
For comparison, let's look at the following snapshot then:
Australia
Isolation for incoming passengers - 28th March
Lockdown restrictions (varying across Territories) - 29th March
Tracing App ready and downloaded - 26th April
Singapore
Restriction of incoming passengers (primarily Singapore Nationals) or even those transiting - 24th March
Partial lockdown restrictions (due to a slight second spike) - 10th April
Tracing App ready and downloaded - 20th March
United Kingdom
Restrictions for incoming passengers - 8th June - so still not in place!
Lockdown restrictions (for us plebs anyway) - 24th March - after ’22 days of dither and delay’ (as stated even by the Tory Sunday Times).
Tracing App - STILL WAITING.......watch this space for an actual date as no doubt, the Govt. deadline is due to be missed. This, following ineffectual trials on the Isle of Wight; and reports yesterday of technical issues and staff not fully trained for the rollout.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... nd-of-june
Meanwhile, the UK has an appalling rate of infections and deaths - lest we forget, the second highest in the World:

If you are seriously attempting to defend this incompetent, lying Tory Government, then you Sir are blinkered, brainwashed; or very possibly both.

It's the first and only one I looked at, and doesn't seem to have gone as swimmingly as you imply.
You cannot just cherry pick things that other governments and countries have done and blindly assuming that they are perfect from day 1.
Very few people - if any- are defending the government's performance. But the point made - that rolling out some of these programmes to millions of people in a short amount of time without problems is not going to be without difficulty - is a fact, not an ideal situation, but a fact nevertheless.
People who point this out are not brainless or blinkered or - to quote another frequently used one - thick.

It's obvious that there would be some teething issues to address in any roll-out of new technology. The point I was making (hence the inclusion of dates) was to indicate just how quick other Countries have been developing and introducing an App.
As it stands, most Australians I speak to (family and business partners) deem it pretty pointless anyway. But then again of course, they've only (as of today) had a total103 deaths!
And before anyone says it's a big Country - indeed it is. However, with 89% of the population living within Urbanised areas (amongst the highest concentration in the World), I think their handling of the Pandemic has been somewhat better than the UK - don't you?
Edit: Just messaged a family member in Sydney NSW and a business colleague in Perth WA. Both have confirmed that the App. DOES work (albeit the T's and C's are a minefield, so put many people off installing it).

Re: Coronavirus
Yup, I have thanks for asking. But this government didn't have to opt for a "ground up" product did they? They chose to design and build from scratch when there were simpler options out there. Teething problems with a project of this scale should be expected, but then again, they've been boldly stating that "it will be fully functional" by June 1st. They've made a rod for their own back on two fronts, by going it alone to build a product from scratch (for their own reasons) and secondly by being stupid enough to make the bullish statements about readiness of the app. All par for the course for this bunch of chancers tbh.Dohnut wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 12:08 amSeriously have any of you ever been involved in the launch of a major project? Re: Coronavirus
At last night's briefing, Johnson wouldn't let Patrick Ballance, or Chris Witty answer a question. Boris Johnson doesn't want any scrutiny on anything.
First of all, the two scientists should have walked out. Being treated like a couple of schoolboys is ridiculous.
Later on they said they don't want to get involved in political stuff, but they were employed by a Conservative government.... That's political anyway.
We are very slowly drifting towards fascism, little by little.
The country is being run by a racist eugenicist, who's going nowhere
