I just cannot see how any decent person would ever want to vote for them.
Moreover, this current mob, led by the Etonian Spaffer, are unquestionably the most incompetent, vicious, uncaring circus ever. Seriously, how can anyone in their right mind support the likes of Johnson, Patel, Duncan-Smith, Francois, etc. - not to mention their overall unelected puppet master, Cummings.
Bit harsh on Labour. We have a vast number of exceptionally talented, hard-working MP's.
As a Corbynite, I'm willing to give Starmer QC a chance. No, he wasn't my choice for leader; but I feel its far too early to form any negative opinion.

Starmer quite clearly says in the video that if he was PM, then Cummings would have been sacked.

Re: Labour Watch
Starmer is playing this well. He's said what he would do if he was PM (gets the public to envisage that possibility), but stopped short of publicly calling for Cummings to go (which would play into the tribal divisions that caught Corbyn out).
The longer Cummings stays in place, he remains visible and continues to undermine Johnson's and his government's credibility. This will pass, however. And if the story is off the front pages by the weekend then, so long as nothing new comes to light, Cummings is safe. But this has cost Johnson and several other ministers a lot of capital with their supporters and other stakeholders.

Re: Labour Watch
Exactly this.
Starmer wasn't my first choice as Labour Party Leader - but was the choice of the majority of other party members.
His performance as leader thus far, has really impressed me. His clinical analysis at PM questions; and his stance during the Cummings debacle. At the end of the day, when something is self-imploding in flames, p!ssing on it doesn't necessarily help.
Much safer (and more enjoyable) to just stand back and enjoy the show.

Starmer is playing things well so far and the only real criticism I've seen of him has been half-hearted attempts from bitter old Corbynite dinosaurs who are realising that they've lost their grip on the party.

Re: Labour Watch
Like when David Blunkett was criticising Corbyn for not sacking his top aides. Right. Corbyn on Covid. You mean the guy who refused to follow the over 70s guidelines, making him no better than Cummings. Corbyn has been consigned to the dustbin of history as a loser.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 2:29 pmThat's all very well but I can't help believing Corbso would have handled both the Covid and the Cummings situation so much better than that tailors dummy Starmer.Nice Username wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:49 pm Starmer is playing things well so far and the only real criticism I've seen of him has been half-hearted attempts from bitter old Corbynite dinosaurs who are realising that they've lost their grip on the party.
Starmer on the other hand is playing it very well. His real issue is the size of the Tory majority bequeathed to him by Corbyn and that a General Election is very unlikely for years. Plus he has a lot of sh*t in his own party to sort out. Time moves on, the Cummings issue will disappear, Covid will be sorted and then the real political battle will start.
A long last Labour have someone in charge who could be attractive in the polls. Progress.

Things are panning out with Starmer as I expected. Those who hope for Labour to be elected as a slightly-less-nasty One Nation mixed economy centrist party at any cost, that the capitalists can tolerate (and ignore/manipulate), will be pleased. Any socialists will be less enamoured, but I suppose it’s better than nowt.

He's been practically silent throughout this whole covid debacle. He's stuck some blair toady in as gen sec. He's shat all over the kashmiris. He's failed to suspend those responsible for plotting against Labour from within.
All that talk of being the one to unify the party was clearly waffle. I wonder if he still would be the choice given what we know already?

Corbyn was regularly going to the House of Commons despite there being a clear work from home option for him. So there's a blatant breach of guideline 3. Guessing he probably took public transport to get there too.

Re: Labour Watch
If memory serves I was in Australia and Corbyn’s reaction was reported there, such was it’s ramifications. If he can take that attitude, then we all can stuff. If people want to justify his actions as a Party Leader whilst criticising Cummings, fine. No doubt Jeremy was taking advice from his brother at the same time Abbott was taking law and order advice from her son.Nice Username wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 6:01 pmActually, you're completely wrong:Mick McQuaid wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 3:18 pm Would you like to tell me how the guidelines for over 70's differered from the general guidance and how he broke those guidelines?

Thank God Corbyn isn’t responsible for the Covid crisis resolution. Hardly a great role model.
