Re: Retained List
Yeah a proper bloated squad with a bunch of bench warmers in there. Unless we release a few and pay them up I can’t see how we can bring in additional players needed to push for the playoffs but we’ll see

Re: Retained List
Don't clubs have to inform player's of their intentions regarding contract extensions 3 weeks before their completion? Contracts generally end on 30th June which would mean players will hear on the 9th. We'll probably start hearing news a couple of days after that with a confirmation in mid July.
What we know is...
We have 15 players confirmed as under contract next season.
Sam Ling (2021)
Joe Widdowson (2021)
Josh Coulson (2021)
Craig Clay (2021)
Connor Wilkinson (2021)
Jordan Maguire-Drew (2021)
Sam Sargeant (2022)
James Brophy (2021)
Lee Angol (2021)
Lawrence Vigoroux (2022)
Hector Kyprianou (2021)
Brendan Shabani (2021)
Jayden Sweeney (2021)
Danny Johnson (2021)
Josh Wright (2021)
10 players who's contracts, last we heard, were expiring this summer. Ling's comments suggest that three or four of these have had their deals extended.
Dale Gorman (expired)
Marvin Ekpiteta (expired)
jobi McAnuff (expired)
James Dayton (expired)
Myles Judd (expired)
Dan Happe (expired)
Matt Harrold (expired)
Ruel Sotiriou (expired)
Jamie Turley (expired)
Arthur Janata (expired)
Louis Dennis' contract length was never announced but I'd imagine it's until 2021.
George Marsh (Loan ended)
Ousmane Cisse (Loan ended)
Kaziah Sterling (Loan ended)

Re: Retained List
How the hell has the club convinced Judd to stick around? It's clear we've no intention of picking him ahead of Ling or literally anyone else that can play right back.

Re: Retained List
The out of contract players have to be told by the 3rd week in May whether they will be given a new contract that is based on the season now ended. I think Harold And Dayton will be leaving together with the lonees from Spurs. Hope we offer Cisse a contract. Next season will be based on loans as and when needed

I hope we offer Cisse a contract and he accepts.
I'd have George Marsh back as well, but Spurs will probably try and get him a L1 side.

Re: Retained List
Marsh has another season on his Spurs deal, so you are probably right that they will try to loan him to league 1 in the hope of getting some money for him.

Re: Retained List
Most of the out of contract players you'd expect to be going anyway, whether that's a good thing (Gorman, Alabi) or not (Ekpiteta, Sotiriou)
The interesting ones are whether we can keep Ruel or not and whether McAnuff continues playing or not. Cissé I'd hope to see back but imagine he'll get offers from L1.

Re: Retained List
I’m disappointed we didn’t get to see him play. He sounded like he could’ve been an exciting player to watch. Who knows ,we might see him next season at Orient

Re: Retained List
Surely all out of contract players will be released. With all the uncertainty around at the moment, it is unclear how much revenue we will have next year. Also some clubs are already releasing first team players e.g. Colchester. There could end up being a glut of decent players on the market in a few weeks. So we could get a good league 1 player for the price of a current squad player.

Re: Retained List
I agree all out of contract players should be released and start when we know the situation. After all we already have 20 players plus any new youth professionals and the loan market. In fact we could start a new season with 20. Some other clubs only have 8 or so

Re: Retained List
The trickiest issue seems to be at centre half.
If Ekpiteta goes and/or Happe get sold, that leaves Turley and Coulson as 2 of the 4 we need. Embleton said recently that Ogie is still a distance away from the first team so he probably will not be considered as a starter, plus he is out of contract.
With a contract still running for Coulson, I suspect that he will not be encouraged to move on although he was a bit suspect at some points last season and previously I thought he would go.
Right back is almost as complicated with Ling, Judd and Turley all 'capable' of playing there. Marsh did impress when he played there but with the others still with us, I am not sure he should come back on loan. Personally, I would like to see Turley or Marsh play there but.....

Re: Retained List
If Happe gets sold, then there is space for a replacement within the 20. Widdowson can also play there if necessary. I'm not saying it's a strong 20, but with loans, it should be enough to compete.
