League Two season brought to an end
It's just been announced by the EFL that the League Two season is over. Promotion and relegation to be determined.
Never in any doubt was it?

Re: League Two season brought to an end
This decision if ratified could cause lasting damage to the game. Personally I think it's a mistake.
They should have pressured the government to bail out the league with a grant, pay for the tests and try to complete the programme. Now anytime theres an issue in future the decision process will be to follow the precedent and will that affect peoples decisions to invest money in a club be it a shareholder or fan?

Re: League Two season brought to an end
So take away valuable testing resources from the system and inflict the cost of testing on each club (I think I read its Β£4m for leagues 1 and 2)? I have no appetite to see out these last 9 games. As for government intervention - thats an even more dangerous precedent. They'd have to do it for all sports - so thats never happening.Thor wrote: βFri May 15, 2020 3:16 pm This decision if ratified could cause lasting damage to the game. Re: League Two season brought to an end
Plus there's the fact that some clubs have put players on furlough, so there would have been costs in bringing them out of the CJRS to play out the season. All those costs would not have been made back from streaming those games.LittleMate wrote: βFri May 15, 2020 3:38 pmSo take away valuable testing resources from the system and inflict the cost of testing on each club (I think I read its Β£4m for leagues 1 and 2)? We're in extraordinary circumstances and the league has correctly decided not to flog a dead horse for no reason whatsoever. The only surprise is that it's taken this long.
As to the future - the only difference it's likely to make is that clubs will try to get the best results out of all their games rather than adopting the current strategy of not bothering in the start of the season and relying on catching up their points per game towards the end of the season. Oh, wait a minute - no one has that strategy.
