Put simply, today marks the start of the Second Wave and it will be worse than the First.

Re: Coronavirus
Amazing that the self imposed magic number of 100,000 tests was hit again on the day our dear leader gave his address before falling back down again, it's almost as if they deliberately fiddle the numbers.
We had our first batch of results back from a round of testing of people who were asymptomatic but had been in contact with someone who had tested positive. Three of the seven came back positive, it took 9 days from the test to actually get the results back because viruses are well known to take bank holiday weekends off, which means they are all fine but we now have to worry about the people they have been in contact with. Unfortunately it seems we aren't entitled to a second round of testing.
Every day brings a new initiative on testing that no one seems to be clear on, call two different people and get two different answers pointing you in a different direction. Badly designed on line 'portals' springing up all over the place which automatically to reject me because we are registered as providing support for people with learning disabilities not dementia or over 65's because obviously people with learning disabilities can't be over 65 or have dementia (actually massively more likely to have dementia early, but never mind).
Absolute f*cking shambles.

How are people supposed to return to work in 12 hours time; with no public transport and without employers having the first idea of the safety regulations required? It's complete and utter madness.
This return to work message is primarily about one thing........getting Furlough payments down. Did people really believe "whatever it takes" Sunak?
It is abundantly clear that this decision is simply about money; and sod all to do about people's lives.
Furlough extended till October. Better go eat some humble pie me thinks.
However, I'm man enough to say I got that one completely wrong Thor.
Pity we can't get Sunak over to our side........he is demonstrating true Socialist principles!
Just wait till you get hit by the income tax and VAT rises to pay for this then I bet people won't be so happy.
personally think they need to keep it for some industries but not all as they'll be some companies who take the piss with it.

Re: Coronavirus
Just read this in Guardian comments section
"Exactly. Spiegelhalter said on Andrew Marr:
10m under-15s in the UK- number of deaths? 2. And they had underlying mortality conditions.
17m under-25s in the UK- number of deaths? 26. And they had underlying mortality conditions.
91% of all deaths with ~3 comorbidities. Average age of all deaths: 80."

I hope that all the people I've seen in the news today; crowds using London Transport WITHOUT even basic masks; clap twice as hard tomorrow night for the lives of NHS and Transport Workers whose lives they are risking.

Re: Coronavirus
I use a folded bandana, with elastic bands over the ears (mine, not the bandana's). It works just fine.

I use a nappy. They have various layers. Velcro. Can wrap them round your face and breathe, just about.

Can we all please stop using the term "spike" as a negative?RedO wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 2:11 pmExcellent. Blaming the working classes for the next spike. But your sentiment is spot on - it's clear that the intention is to get lots of pics of crowded tubes and buses so we can all blame the people on them.
We all know that the real culprits are the people who don't clap loud enough on a Thursday night - they should be burned out of their houses (and it won't be long before that happens, I'm sure)

The fact is though that these arseholes will indeed be as equally to blame for any spike.RedO wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 2:11 pmExcellent. Blaming the working classes for the next spike. Whether they are working class or not, doesn't even come into it.
