Does lockdown have about as much chance of defeating covid as the common cold?

Re: Coronavirus
The reasoning was that it was too widespread already, so a few more coming in didn’t make a difference.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:38 amBetter late than never, I guess. If there isn't the political will to stop a bunch of soppy gentrifying millennials going to London Fields for a case of craft beer we ain't gonna enforce a quarantine on bods flying in

Re: Coronavirus
Quite - the virus is raging at different rates across the world. Since voluntary quarantine won't work and is unlikely to be practically enforceable, we need to look at where people are coming from (and maybe where they've been before that) and decide at the point of entry whether to turn them away - otherwise any 'gains' we've made controlling this thing here can be easily undermined.Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 9:05 am If there isn't the political will to stop a bunch of soppy gentrifying millennials going to London Fields for a case of craft beer we ain't gonna enforce a quarantine on bods flying in
If it was a Europe-wide consistent policy, it might even make some of the other countries, Belarus, Brazil etc, start getting their houses in order.

Sounds like someone who couldn't care less if a loved one passed away. I guarantee that he probably was one of the most vocal ones about how Brexit was going to be a great thing for the UK, remember that Brexit. If Boris and Co were not so focused on that Brexit bullshit maybe we all wouldn't be in such a longterm lockdown.

Vulnerable people I know aren't going out at all, so what millennials do is pretty much irrelevant to them.

Re: Coronavirus
I have been staying alert all day in order to control the virus.
Unfortunately I nodded off after lunch, so apologies to any of you who caught it while I wasn't paying attention.

Re: Coronavirus
This new stay alert slogan is the biggest BS ever from this government, and thats saying something.
How can you stay alert, to see something thats about 0.00001 in?
This whole new campaign is about loosening the lockdown, when were not really ready yet.
The numbers of infections will shoot up again, as will the number of deaths, and an even more stringent lockdown will have to come into force
This government is really clueless

Great to see the Hospital deaths going down obviously. Is there a similar graph for non-hospital deaths where you found this graph?Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 10:22 am Daily hospital deaths in England by day of death not reporting
