Yes, but if we could just stay on topic, there are plenty of other threads for politics chat.

Dah, dah dah dah - dah - dahhhhhhhhhhh. You win today's Star Prize for being the Tory voting tw*t to introduce the "do you think Corbyn would have done better" non-argument into the thread. Congratulations! This is the gift that keeps on giving! We'll never know how Corbyn would have done - can't you get that through your thick head. Focus on how bloody terrible this TORY government is.
All very good bluster but as I have stated elsewhere I'm not a Tory. If it's OK for you to point out the shortcomings of this goverment it's surely OK for others to remind you of the shortcomings of the Labour Party that led to the Tories being elected.
But your perceived "shortcomings" of the Labour party have no relevance to this thread do they? Labour aren't the ones in charge of the Country. They are not the Party who are abjectly failing to effectively lead us through this crisis. That's the Tories, and the Tories alone.

By all means you're obviously free to post any comments you have about Labour but maybe the thread "Labour watch" might be the place to do so as they have no relevance to the current crisis.
And maybe the thread "Tory Watch" would be more appropriate to criticise rather than a thread about Covid19. I would rather debate the virus than the politics of it.

Where should discussions about any abject failures in Government response to the virus be held?

Which makes zero sense as we're talking about the handling of the Covid crisis here and it's kinda difficult if you can't mention the government. Oh, and by the way, it was you who posted the "do you think Corbyn would have done better" post.....

Easy solution. Use your Admin powers and ban the Tories and leave us leftists to argue amongst ourselves.

Well it doesn't have to mention either party, really, because it's the Government that's failing.

I know what you mean about threads descending, but it's the Government decisions on the response to the virus that determine how many people die. (as we can see from how other regimes around the world have responded and how their countries are faring).

And if we're not going to discuss the Govt response, this thread is going to be a daily number and speculation about whether it's going up or down (without being able to refer to the measures taken cos that's political)

This is the wrong answer.

It is a Tory clusterfuck caused by their ideology and incompetence. They own these deaths nobody else.

Almost every instance of incompetence is down to this lying, Tory Government.

Every failure in testing, is down to this Tory Government.

Every piece of useless testing/medical equipment, or inadequate PPE purchased, is down to this Tory Government.

Who knows just how many of the tens of thousands of deaths are due to the late lock-down; still no subsequent border control; no testing and tracing; insufficient PPE (or in the case of care homes initially - none). This is down to the Tory Government

Their mismanagement has COST LIVES. Has that sunk in?

So to expect such a serious issue to be discussed without engaging this inept Government would, in my honest opinion, be completely naive and blinkered.

I'm not forever on their case because they are simply an opposing party. It's because of their incompetence and mismanagement.

The buck stops with Johnson & Co.

Not Jeremy Corbyn.

Not the Labour Party.

It stops with the Tories.
This post is correct. "politics" affects every interaction we have in daily life from catching the bus to work to sending our kids to school and what we eat.

People who bleat on about health issues being politicised are either extremely dense or propagandists for the status quo.

The NHS is probably one of the most politicised institutions in existence in the UK because by setting it up a decision was made to set up socialised medicine free at the point of delivery. This us contrary to the way almost all other services operate in a capitalist society.
Shame you feel the need to throw insults around because you disagree with something, But I get it, take the moral high ground eh Max unless of course there's a chance to help yourself to some alcohol off one of your taxi customers as you boasted of doing a couple of years back. Morals and standards of an alley cat.

You are completely wrong actually. My days of political campaigning have long since passed.

I do however still see a purpose in holding this useless Tory Govt. to account. Something which you don't apoear to ever be willing to do?

Some light reading - the report into the government's 2016 Exercise Cygnus, about the UK's preparedness for a pandemic, has been leaked to the Grauniad: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... rus-crisis
