I think we all need to listen to this song.
Let it all out.
I hope we all don't get to this point.

Re: This video says it all
New Zealanders have a fantastic Labour Party Socialist Prime Minister, in Jacinda Ardern.
Her Government have controlled this Pandemic brilliantly from the outset.
The United Kingdom has an Etonian Spaffer who, along with his Tory Party, have been proved to be utterly clueless and out of their depth.
The United Kingdom has the most deaths in Europe; and the second highest in the World.
It really isn't rocket science, is it.

New Zealand have done well, no arguing with that.

“The costs of trying to maintain eradication are just going to be astronomical—I don’t believe that it’s sensible,” Simon Thornley, a senior epidemiology lecturer at the University of Auckland, tells TIME. “The small-business people who have put a lot of time and effort into their livelihoods are going to have it taken away through this lockdown.”

Infuriating the BoJo, despite almost dying because of his own stupidity, is STILL trying to spin the response as a success. Blood on his hands and he's still trying to gain politically from it. Makes me sick.
As for NZ, they did a fantastic job. But they also have a much smaller and less dense population. Still, I wish she was in charge over here.

So all UK Businesses, because of the UK Government's decision-making and leadership, are going to be trading spectacularly in a few weeks time are they?faldO wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 5:09 pm New Zealand have done well, no arguing with that.

There won't be hundreds (possibly thousands?) of SME's going into administrarion?
There won't be many thousands of people finding themselves on the dole, will there?
New Zealand have indeed done brilliantly (not just 'well').
You've conveniently failed to mention however, that the UK, under this incompetent Tory Govt. have not done so 'well'.
I hope you listened to the lyrics of the song above - Zombie. It characterises you and your ilk oh so perfectly.

I'm simply providing some balance to the argument, which you don't like, and as usual resort to abusing anyone who doesn't agree with you.
Yes, New Zealand have done brilliantly (happy now?), I wish the UK had done brilliantly too, I wish nobody anywhere in the world had died from coronavirus, I wish it didn't exist.

It's a Tory supporter; clearly brainwashed into believing the narrative.
I actually know quite a few. Tories, it appears by their very DNA, always find it extremely difficult to accept criticism or admit that the Tory Govt. have ever screwed up. Brexit also springs to mind.
For example, somebody currently not willing to admit the utter clusterfcuk of incompetence that we find ourselves in; from a proven lying Government.

To be honest, larger countries should be compared to Germany. Alot more information is required from so many other countries as we all know that alot of them will never tell the truth, unfortunately.

Re: This video says it all
My Niece lives on the South Island & the biggest reason they are so lightly affected is due to the distance they are away from the rest of the world .
She was here christmas 2018 her flight back was 6 or 7 hours to turkey
3 hours to somewhere else then 12 hours to Oz & a further 2 hours back to the south island via 2 flights .
She did the so called easier route To San francisco then direct to heathrow .
1 is virtually a 24 hour thing the other 25 hours including waiting times.
Far fewer people were allowed back or out & only then were they allowed to travel once they were fully supllied with ppe & test equipment .
Very good display,
but massive variants on travel traffic .

Re: This video says it all
We should have closed our borders earlier, instead of allowing travellers to return from Northern Italy for example 6 weeks ago without making them go into Quarantine or checking their temperatures.
Even now fliers arriving at Heathrow aren’t being checked as far as I know.
Having said that I’m not sure comparing the UK with NZ who have a far smaller population is fair.
Over 30,000 deaths is certainly nothing to be proud of.

Re: This video says it all
Whilst Spain and Italy were playing football behind closed doors, we let 3000+ people from one of the worst affected areas, Madrid, fly to Liverpool and go to the game, drink in the bars, stay in hotels. Who knows how many lives that cost. We were asleep at the wheel.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 7:31 pmWhat difference would that have made ?Cheshunto wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 6:50 pm We should have closed our borders earlier, instead of allowing travellers to return from Northern Italy for example 6 weeks ago without making them go into Quarantine or checking their temperatures.

We let people in who were coming from areas like Italy who were ‘ahead’ of us in the pandemic without even checking their temperature. Testing wasn’t available then. We let 3,000 Spaniards in for the match at Liverpool coming from Madrid, one of the worst affected areas.
You’re right we don’t know when this was here originally but we acted far too slowly and could have reduced the number of deaths we currently have.

I don't think anyone here is saying Boris has done a good job (are they?) or that the NZ PM hasn't done a good job - but the two countries are completely different.
To suggest that he's been rubbish because he's a Tory and she's been fabulous because she's a socialist is oversimplifying it though.
