Why is beer so expensive in Norway ? Is food expensive as well ?

Cruise cancelled and can’t get my money back. They have given me cruise credits for any other cruise before 2021. Didnt want to go in the first place. I couldn't think of anything worse than spending 10 days with like minded people/people like me and now have to go with a risk of a watery grave.

Why can't you get the money back ? If they've cancelled the holiday then surely you've got the right to a refund, if you don't want a credit. Who is it with and how did you book - direct or through an agent? I'd imagine you'd have to wait but don't think they have any right to refuse a refund.

Like an idiot I cancelled a week before the cruise company cancelled the cruise. It was with Royal Caribbean.

I'm gobsmacked that anyone would want to consider a cruise ever again.

It will certainly give me pause for thought. The Cruise companies (well, P&O certainly) are already really strict on handwashing and cross contamination, as they already have to contend with norovirus etc, along with elderly and closely confined guests. I'm sure they'll be looking at changes to their operating model for the time that comes after - no buffets, lower density capacities etc - but I wonder, as you say, whether many folk will ever go back once this is over (whatever "over" looks like).

Not only will people be less inclined, but there'll be the economic fallout for the next years that's going to shrink the number of people willing/able to go cruising still further.

It's a shame cos I really liked it - only started a couple years ago - and Mrs Spike won't fly, so it's pretty much the only way we can get somewhere hot for a holiday.

Was meant to be going to Berlin to see Pearl Jam in June. That has been put back to next year. Managed to get refunds on flights and accommodation though.
Had to ring BA has they had 'conveniently' rebooked our flights for later in the year.

That's disappointing. Pearl Jam are class. I'm going to put a few of their tunes on today. You should do the same.

One week in May cancelled. 2 golfing weekends cancelled. Supposed to be going to Spain in early October. Just have to wait and see about that.

Had to ring BA has they had 'conveniently' rebooked our flights for later in the year.

They would have to do that initially if a flight has been cancelled; to keep you 'live' within their Amadeus airline booking system.

To be fair to them, BA have been probably the best airline for issuing redunds to date.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why cruising may have previously been an attractive option for some generally. But the thought of being on the next Diamond Princess, and being quarantined on board, is enough to put me off. This, along with a shrunken market, is going to be a very difficult hurdle for the industry to overcome.

Tempted to organise a couple of weeks driving round the UK and Scotland in the late summer if possible. Lots of places up north ive not seen and the highlands.
