Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
What's really frightening, the Government knows where I went yesterday, or the Corona Virus cases increase. I don't know how effective the App will be, but it may help, I've no problems installing it. I can't believe how selfish people are to "potentially" walk around infecting people with no consideration for those they come in contact with. Then again, knowing the rubbish I normally read on this board, I'm not surprised.

Oh. You need a smartphone anyway. Don’t have one. Phew.

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
I’ll predict right now what will happen within a week if it goes live nationwide.
Confusion as to as and when you need to isolate.
No real strong guidance from the government or any enforcement of action which will fuel more people getting angry at people who aren’t following it or downloading it, meaning a readymade excuse if there is a second wave. The people are the problem.
As well as that it will be sh*t and ping every 5 mins because I was at Morrison’s at 8am and someone who had it was in the shop next door at 9pm.

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
Not sure it will be that bad, but Bluetooth isn't great for measuring distances as it is relatively strongly impacted by the surroundings. Be interesting to see how they work around that technical challenge.

That's true. Google Location History but I think you can opt in or out.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 10:45 am They can already track you with or without the app. So dial down the paranoia.
I'm sure this is only a temporary measure.

Similarly it will be fine in Spain Italy France & Germany .
If people here refuse then expect further peaks

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
They have similar apps in China anyway and culturally it’s not that much of an issue. And in China if you go red on your app you cannot even leave you building, by law. You have to show your status buying anything. It’s interesting to me that people would welcome that level of lockdown but fair enough.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 10:08 pmSeems to have been succesful in ChinaApple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 9:33 pm I’ll predict right now what will happen within a week if it goes live nationwide.

Funnily I’ve stated above that I predict that people not downloading or following the app will be used as an excuse, not least by the government, if there is a second wave and lo and behold, before the things even released it’s happening!

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
I provided a (non-political) link earlier that clearly outlines why this App will prove to be a complete waste of time. Clearly, some people just can't be bothered to read it.
Anyway, here it is again:

For those who can't be bothered reading it, just continue to live in your own little Dreamworld. I'm sure everything will all be tickety-boo.

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
No thanks.
Nor does my Wife.
Nor a Hancock Badge.
Nor even a fly-past from The Red Arrows.
Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
I read it when you posted it and it does not say the app will be a complete waste of time. I don't think it came down heavily on one side of the argument or another. It highlights potential issues and privacy concerns which is fair enough but also has some good things to say about it.NuneatonO's wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 10:48 pm I provided a (non-political) link earlier that clearly outlines why this App will prove to be a complete waste of time. It's not supposed to be a silver bullet. The app is just one part of the track and trace story and I really don't see what the big deal is about it. Clearly it's not going to be the only solution because not everybody has a smartphone. I'm prepared to give it a go if it helps.
I think many people object to it not on tech or privacy grounds but simply because they hate the government.

Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
The app being designed by the brother of Dominic Cummings’ number 2?
Yeah, sure. It‘ll be fine.
Yeah, sure. It‘ll be fine.
Re: Track & Trace App....Will you be installing it?
Vaccines are currently under trial. They may or may not work. They may have been designed incorrectly or need tweaking. Months might be spent on one and it turns out useless. Perhaps even a distant cousin of Dominic Cummings is working on one.
Same for cures and medication to help those already ill.
But it's worth trying because the alternative is to sit there and do nothing.
Let's hope you're equally dismissive of a successful vaccine (should one ever be developed) and refuse to have anything to do with it (as some will do), because in the end it will have been commissioned by the government like the app. But I bet I know the answer to that.

Change the word ‘hate’ to ‘trust’ and you have the answerfaldO wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:14 pmI read it when you posted it and it does not say the app will be a complete waste of time. So if it was Labour Government you wouldkokomO wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 3:42 pmWhy would I take the risk in trusting anything this government is involved in?o-no wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 2:12 pm Don't have a problem with it.
I'd rather my phone told me I'd been near someone who tested positive than not know. As others have said, Big Brother knows where your phone is anyway.
I think people who don't want to be tracked have a somewhat over-inflated idea of how important they are in the big picture of things.

The points remain the same whether it's "hate" or "trust", though I assume you mean "don't trust".kokomO wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 8:22 amChange the word ‘hate’ to ‘trust’ and you have the answerfaldO wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:14 pmI read it when you posted it and it does not say the app will be a complete waste of time. Please confirm whether or not you will accept a vaccine should one be produced in this country.
