There were 105 actual deaths in England in the 24 hours leading up to yesterday's (Saturdays) announcement far fewer than the stated 711. 606 deaths had occurred over a number of days beforehand but had not been reported by the hospital or relevant local health authority.

That’s how the number is reported every day. I don’t know how that 105 compares with previous days but I assume that’s not an accurate figure until the deaths yesterday are reported over the next few days

As this goes on, and on, we tend to get fed up with hearing about all the cock ups. It isn't exactly uplifting. However, the fact that front-line staff STILL don't have the PPE they need is a National scandal and one that we do need to be reminded of. Can this government get any worse - yeah I know the answer to that one.........

they'll make some small adjustments when it's reviewed on the 7th. They'll probably be along the lines of letting a few more shops open and opening up the people you can see from maybe the ones in your house to your immediate family as long as they live within a specific distance of you.

But that's 1250 pieces of PPE delivered to us, which sounds an awful lot, and they are doing these kind of numbers daily. They are clearly doing a great job and it has absolutely nothing to do with whatever minister gets the gig being able to tell us a really big number of amounts of PPE delivered, while never quite mentioning the other big number of what is actually needed.

Someone going on about Karol Sicora- Sounds like he is a dodgy geezer. Check him out before quoting him. Just because someone is a Doc or a Prof doesn't mean he spouts Gospel. Always check out your sources ( They could be David Ike ).

There are lots of differing opinions, he is one I would prefer to listen too as he in my opinion gives a balanced view in difference to a lot of gloom mongers in the press.

He chaired Help Hammer Cancer, an appeal that raised £8m towards the construction of the new Cancer Centre at Hammersmith. He became Deputy Director (Clinical Research) of the ICRF. From 1997 to 1999 he was Chief of the WHO Cancer Program and from 1999 to 2002, Vice President, Global Clinical Research (Oncology) at Pharmacia Corporation.

He has published over 300 papers and written or edited 20 books and is on the editorial board of several journals and is the founding editor of Gene Therapy and Cancer Strategy. Saw him on the news the other day. One of the first things he said was "I'm not an epidemiologist". So I immediately stopped listening and wondered why the BBC was using someone who isn't an expert in the field. Weird.

Mind it was Sunday and maybe the real experts where having the day off.

Looks like the downward trend continues, lower than the same time last Monday, but as you say Monday figures are always warped by lack of reporting over the weekend.

Hospitalisations have fallen day by day over the last week.
ICU bed use in Scotland down 30% in the last 14 days.

Urgently need to step up testing before lockdown ends and get track and trace sorted out

I do know a little about this Sikora geezer. My cousin like him, is a Professor of Onocology and when she was still a fairly junior doctor she jointly wrote a book about Cancer with him. I don't know why he has been wheeled out to talk about Covid 19 as he is a Cancer expert. But he does have several axes to grind.
I quote from Wikipedia:-Sikora is very critical of cancer care available on the National Health Service.[16] During President Obama's push to enact healthcare reform, in early May 2009 he appeared in a Republican Party attack ad in the United States criticising NICE and the NHS.[19] Sikora told The Guardian that he did not know he would be used in the ad campaign, and that he agreed with Obama about the American health care system.[20]

In the attack ad, Sikora was referred to as professor of oncology at Imperial College. This led Imperial to seek legal advice to stop Sikora from claiming to be a professor of cancer medicine at Imperial; a claim that he was understood to have made repeatedly over the previous five years.[21] On 29 January 2009, Sikora had introduced himself to a Commons health select committee as "...professor of oncology at Imperial College for 22 years"[21]

On Newsnight in 2017, he described the NHS as "the last bastion of communism".[22]

So he is experienced at telling lies on the telly and hates the NHS. I understand now why the Tory infested BBC would use him to talk about Covid 19 even though he is a cancer specialist.

Yes, I took this up too.

Not to scare people but I watched somebody who had the virus last night taking a antibody test live on air. They showed up with no antibodies. Unless the test isn't accurate or does it take somebody a longer time than the experts thought to build up some kind of Immunity.

One thing I do know. A local health care worker in my area, tested positive and had symptoms, quarantined for 14 days, went back to work, the place were they were working in, everybody got tested, and they again tested positive with no symptoms. Were do you go then? Extend quarantine or is some people just super spreaders? By the way loads of the healthcare workers showed up positive with no symptoms and some of them work in multiple places of work.

We have alot to learn about this bad boy before we are out of the woods.

They also have a big fear that this will come back with a vengeance in a second wave unless we can all keep washing the hands, stay at least 2 meters apart, wear masks at work, in a shop and on public transport.
