If a form of social distancing is in place to at least the end of this year which could mean some clubs going out of business thus effecting next season's timetable or if simply the distancing goes into next year and makes 20/21 a non starter anyway, how do clubs pay players wages with virtually zero income and in fact they may not have kicked a ball in anger. Could the clubs say to the players, sorry, but your contract is null and void

If they don't accept furlough then I guess that makes them free agents.
