Players Contracts
If a form of social distancing is in place to at least the end of this year which could mean some clubs going out of business thus effecting next season's timetable or if simply the distancing goes into next year and makes 20/21 a non starter anyway, how do clubs pay players wages with virtually zero income and in fact they may not have kicked a ball in anger. Could the clubs say to the players, sorry, but your contract is null and void

If they don't accept furlough then I guess that makes them free agents.POSHO wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:32 pm If a form of social distancing is in place to at least the end of this year which could mean some clubs going out of business thus effecting next season's timetable or if simply the distancing goes into next year and makes 20/21 a non starter anyway, how do clubs pay players wages with virtually zero income and in fact they may not have kicked a ball in anger. Re: Players Contracts
I'm dealing with a few supplier contracts at the moment, and the suppliers are claiming Covid-19 constitutes force majeure. Obviously there's no case law on this yet, but it will be interesting to see how the legal argument plays out. If the courts uphold the claim then that will have huge ramifications in all walks of life.

There will be a few court cases involving insurers for sure. They are trying to wriggle out of paying businesses.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:11 am I'm dealing with a few supplier contracts at the moment, and the suppliers are claiming Covid-19 constitutes force majeure.
