Daily death figures for England down from about 800 a day earlier in the month to around 600 currently.

I expect todays low figure is because of the weekend, I reckon we'll see a higher figure of 600-800 tomorrow.

Very interesting article in the Irish Times yesterday about a study happening at Kings university in London.

8 or 9 waves before herd immunity is reached.

8 or 9 ?

I reckon after the next stint of three weeks if some of the restrictions aren't eased then they'll be a fair few people going sod this for a game of soldiers and they'll be a bit more flouting of the rules. I reckon the good old house party will be come quite common.

I just can't see that people who have followed the rules, and understand why they are there, are going to tire of following them, no matter how long this lasts.

People who are already flouting the rules a bit may start to push the boundaries though, but if idiots can't cope without a house party during a pandemic then there's a bit of me that think they deserve what's coming to them.

Indeed
Then there is the variance in the next wave that could theoretically make any vaccine useless.

Japan already at the threshold for there 2nd wave

Should government ministers resign over their total f*** up regarding Covid-19?
Back in the day, if a government minister made a slight mistake, they would resign, as the honourable thing to do. Nodays however, they seem to think resigning isnt necessary, however bad the mistake(s) is/are.
Personally i think Hancock should resign. He has lied and lied repeatedly, often just to buy himself some time, but now its time to go.
I also think Johnson should resign too, even thought hes supposedly had the virus, and has been out of it for a while. Men of honour would resign, but there's very little honour in the government
I also think the scientists should resign...Valance, Witty and Harries for sure
This whole thing has been handled poorly.
Just look ar how Jacinta Arden has handled it in New Zealand......Borders closed straight away, testing done, lockdown from the beginning. If only our lot would have behaved to decisively from the beginning
