And he referred to, I think, "non-surgical" face coverings when interviewed on BBC Breakfast this morning.

That sounds like backtracking. No mention of 'non-surgical' in the above article.

""What I'm not advocating for is for precious personal protective equipment to be diverted away from the NHS or care services," he cautioned."

From the Skynews link above

From your BBC link it appears to be the Conservative candidate who's advicating diverting PPE away from the NHS

That is a bit contradictory though when he's calling for compulsory face masks for millions of Londoners.

So today he says everyone on public transport should wear face masks. So Mr mayor where are your workers face masks? Why are you not protecting your workers?

This man is a tosser of the highest order, how can he call for something yet fails to protect the very people he is asking to ferry the public around.

He is a hypocrite of the highest order.
Give it a rest Gilso.

Still can't work out what it is about Mayor Khan that upsets Thor so. The points raised in his OP have already been shot full of holes, and I see he's not had the front to come and back up his position. Sad.

You lot talk.more sh*t than I dont what at times.

Has he called for compulsory masks? Yes
Has he provided his tfl staff with appropriate masks or protective equipment? No.

What's acceptable then?

He calls for compulsory stuff yet fails to provide his staff with the same protection. Is that hypocritical? You bet it is.

See bbc article here.

Have a read upthread. He appears to be asking for the wearing of "facemasks" (not PPE) to be made compulsory. Like Grant Shapps is also suggesting. Anyone can make their own facemask to protect others (not themselves) - that seems to be what he's asking for when you read any of the reports quoted above. In the skynews one he specifically states that he's not calling for PPE to be compulsory, or in any way diverted away from the NHS.

If the government says that we should all wear a handkerchief over our mouths when we go out in order to protect others, then I'd hardly expect the Government to supply us all with a handkerchief.

This whole London Mayor thing; it's only worth having one if their party holds power, isn't it? Otherwise they're pretty much unable to do anything meaningful.
