How does this virtual boxing work
Saw on Ladbrokes the other day that you could bet on virtual boxing. The fight offered up was between George Forman and David Haye. Foreman was 4/9 and 8/13 to stop or k.o. Haye. Now Haye would have zero chance of surviving with Foreman in the real world (assuming they were boxing at same time), and I wanted to see exactly how they ascertain the result , what is fed into the computer, their record over their entire career?, or what, but there is nothing on their site explaing this.
Foreman won and today he is facing mike Tyson who is 1/6 fav with foreman 7/2. Foreman at his best would beat Tyson at his best, too big, too powerful, and like Holyfield he would out game Tyson . So how do they reach a result, what do they feed into the computer. Do they know the outcome before the virtual fight .

A prime Tyson gives foreman problems. Tyson’s speed and movement would be too much for George who was a plodder, as long as Tyson stays away from the bombs then I fancy Tyson to knock him out. It would be an intriguing Fight for sure and Tyson would have to be the best Tyson to win.
In respect to your question I guess it’s some young kids algorithms of information fed in and the machine finding a solution. They are going to do the grand national on the same basis. I personally can’t see how it can work as the variables in real life are too varied and complicated to predict.
But I do agree foreman beats haye every single day of the week.

Re: How does this virtual boxing work
Thor, surprised you think that Tyson would have beaten big George . In my opinion he would have beaten Ali had the fight been in an air conditioned stadium and not the stifling heat of Zaire. Tyson reigned didn’t beat much of note and such as the hype his opponents were often frozen with fear. He lost to buster douglas,Holyfield twice, Lennox Lewis , and though he was shot by then, unbelievably to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.
Foreman was beaten by Ali, jimmy young , who gave Ali all sorts of trouble his only losses before he retired. He twice knocked out Frazier who he floored multiple times, once lifting off his feet , and ken norton who again Ali couldn’t really handle.
His loss to young he explained as having a spiritual episode due to him not wanting to harm him , thus followed him embracing religion.
Remarkably he made a comeback at 38 winning 24 before being outpointed by Holyfield at the age of 42, the only other people to beat him after his 44th birthday was tommy Morrison and Shannon Briggs both points, the later being a diabolical decision.
He of course won the world title at nearly 46. His only loss inside the distance was to Ali and that was a result of exhaustion.
For me Tyson would have bottled it when he felt foreman’s power , and realized he couldn’t hurt foreman or intimidate him.
There again we will never know and boxing is all about opinions.

Re: How does this virtual boxing work
Ali is a curious one, as I do beleive he was prepared to die before frazier was pulled out of his fight with him. He said after it was he closest thing to death you could get. The fact that this was after the pounding he took from foreman made it even more remarkable.
Going back to Tyson at his prime he was ferocious and no one could get near him, he demolished every world champion put in front of him. If you read his autobiography he says that when he became the world champion his life was complete, he didn’t have cus with him anymore and he felt a sense of what next. He says he never trained properly ever again. You say buster douglas beat him, but Tyson put him down for a 12 or 13 second count and the fight should have been over. Holyfield cheated massively in both fights and Lewis was too big and too strong and skilled for him at that point in his career. If cus had been alive, if he never got with king he could have gone undefeated, it’s just his life was basically a circus without discipline and the rest as they say is history. I watched the Tyson v Holmes fight just the other day and his movement was just too much for Holmes and way he finished him was brutal and clinical. If you get a chance put that one on again and watch it once more. Holmes was finished at that time in my eyes, like Ali was when he fought Holmes. Brutal was the word though.
One thing is for sure it would have been a great fight v foreman, but like I said Tyson would have to be in his prime and at his best to stand a chance of winning.

Re: How does this virtual boxing work
Thor, among my legal/boxing contacts in the states was one who sent me the transcript from the Tyson rape case.
Don king was getting the silly sausage with Tyson’s behavior, and had Holyfield in the wings. He got Tyson a smart arse New York tax lawyer who had never acted in a criminal case before, let alone a rape case.
The judge was unbelievable and refused to allow evidence from a cleaner who confirmed that the accuser had discarded a panty liner in the bathroom bin. She had borrowed an expensive dress from a friend and realising she was due her ‘monthly’,used a panty liner in her underwear in case she soiled it.
The argument that the judge refused to hear was that she new Tyson was going to get inside her knickers and didn’t want the panty liner. As I said, the judge refused to allow that evidence.
However , again from someone who associated with Tyson stated he is crude and once in his company he witnessed a young girl in a short skirt approaching him and asking for a photo together. “Sure honey, can I feel your kitty” as he put his hand up her skirt was his response.

Hey Red card, read what big george had to say about his 1990's return - he wanted no part of Tyson.
What's your thoughts now after reading that?

Re: How does this virtual boxing work
Thor, foreman was an old man in boxing terms when he made his comeback and had the good sense not to make the same mistakes as greats like Louis and Ali made in taking on opponents that were too young and at their peak.
Tyson himself boxed past his sell by date, and was beaten by Kevin McBride and Danny Williams .
Disoriented, I have some time ago. I have about 200 boxing books and as a result of lockdown are now reading again.
I have just finished, Ted kid Lewis, jack kid berg, jack Johnston, rocky marciano, and am a third way through George foreman.

I'm really tempted to call my next dog Jake after the late and great La Motta.

Thor, did you ever meet jake, I met him several times when he was in England. Those were the days when with only one title at stake nobody avoided anyone and fighters like Robinson, lamotta ,Zivic, would fight each other many times.

Re: How does this virtual boxing work
No I never, but his fights with Robinson were both epic and brutal. Between them both they have over 300 fights!! Now we struggle together top ranked fighters to have 4 fights a year let alone 3!!
Did you see the board have said no boxing till the government clears the lockdown, and hearn is ready to put on fights behind closed doors. Not sure that works to be honest as fighters must thrive on the buzz, the atmosphere and when times are tough the will g of the crowd backing them to raise their level one more time.
However, saying that boxing is well placed to return quickly and without too much disruption as there is not thousands on the payroll. The boxers need to get out and earn some money so we could be in for a very fruitful summer this year - all being well of course.
