I cannot see this has been posted elsewhere (apologies if I have missed it and it has) but it would seem the Shrimpers are a step closer to a new ground, albeit one that doesn't seem to have the income generating opportunities that were originally envisaged by Ron Martin. The Shrimpers fans are generally welcoming of the development it would seem, from looking at their forum. Just need to pay their taxes occasionally now and they may survive to see it open. Good luck to them.

A guy who used to come into my work is on the board of directors there.
He says they have always had the money for the tax returns .
They just never want to pay them

Exactly what a Sarfend season ticket holder friend tells me whenever I remind him of this.

There are 5 or 6 who wanted a change at the top
Which they supposedly got , but somethings just dont change.
Most of them made there money under Thatch , so maybe they
still think its ok to pay late .

Re: SUFC new ground a step closer
I think Martin is a figure who divides their fans. Quite a lot want to see him go, whilst others still see him a saviour after picking up the club. Seems pretty clear to me that he has stayed with them to make some money from the ground development, but with social housing now replacing the retail and cinema, I don't quite know how he will do that (although he probably has a plan). Unless of course he sells the new stands to himself and then leases the space out for a profit for his own benefit. I cannot though imagine anyone would do something like that though.
