All I remember him for was a wonderful roulette that lead to the 3rd goal in the Trophy QF last year. The fact that he and his team mates allowed The Heed to come back into the tie spoke volumes about him for me.

He was one of 11 other players who allowed the opposition back into that game, including the boy wonder Ebou Adams. Many players in that team have gone on to win the league this year. Why pick on Caprice?

Clay has massively improved throughout this season and even more massively over last season. (A lot of that is down to having Jobi alongside him but that’s irrelevant).
How are you in old money? Chedder Bob?

He was good without Jobi beside him or did you just see the last few games?

No, I was off the hook. 😉

Think it showed last night, even against Villas kids we were far too open without someone more disciplined - ie Jobi - sitting in there.

Didn’t go last night as the kids had things to do and the old women was out for the night. Clay carries the midfield all the way up till he got injured, we lost our momentum when he was out injured and it took a couple of games upon his return before we went on our 12 game unbeaten run. The team missed him more than anyone else in my opinion, yes we missed Jobi when he was out, but we missed Clay more due to the exceptional workload he put in each game.

What's that got to do with that? That couldn't have been known at the time?

Because if you want to critically analyse performance in 17/18 then Caprice sticks out as a sore point and a position with a priority for improvement in order for the TEAM to achieve its objective of promotion. For all the criticism that the 18/19 version of Ling atttracted he was nowhere near a weakness as Caprice was and this improvement he brought to the team contributed to promotion.

I still think you're missing the point. The post I originally replied to said it told him a lot about Caprice and the team that allowed that to happen. It was impossible to know how the team would fare the next season.

Better than Ling and Judd (at the moment) by some way. We just didn’t didnt play a system that suited his game and became yet another victim of the boo boys who craved another scapegoat. Always rated him and sorry to see him hounded. Wish he was still here, we lack that attacking option he provided. He’s had the last laugh though. Well done.

We struggled with him.

We got promoted with pretty much the same team other than him.

But other than that, I make you right.

No he wasn’t. He had a few poor games like every other player at some point. But the boo boys got a new scapegoat and from there on every little mistake was highlighted in glorious technicolour. He was and has without dispute recently proved he was a decent player. Doing well at Tranmere, can’t argue with that.

The boo boys got it wrong and just can’t accept it.

Caprice would have loved the formation we played at the end of the season.

There does seem to be something different about it.

Ollie Palmer was a bit of a scapegoat it is fair to say and many people (including me) were critical about a lack of skills.

Thank god Chingy ain't here no more because every time he scored he or someone else would bump his thread in a 'I told you so' manner. 16 goals in 43 games for a lower-half side in L2 represents about his peak IMO, I wouldn't want him back as I think we could do better.

Strangely enough players like Calvin Andrew or Armand Gnanduillet have been doing OK in League One but they never get the 'I told you so treatment'.
Josh Wright on the other hand did.

Why is this? All were scapegoats in one form or another here, just can't understand the mixed reaction.

Path of least resistance. Look at the foreign lads under Beelzebub, got it worse than most other players who were crap even though they didn't play as much. People like Janse and Mezague might make it into peoples worst XI, but they went on to play top level football in Holland and Belgium. So surely the biggest 'I told you so' of the lot.

Strangely nobody calls our own fans 'morons' for laying into players like those, almost as if they are fair game.

I saw him as much as most matey and what was clear was that he was a decent player, especially going forward where for a while he topped the assists list. But, as I droned on about at the time, his style and our system didn’t match. That didn’t make him a bad player, just a bad fit. Tranmere were very complimentary about him and didn’t waste much time signing him up to their benefit.

The boo boys drove him out by destroying his confidence. The boo boys got it wrong. Need to get over it.

He was part of a defence that was leaking goals for fun - yet he got most of the blame.
Dayton wasn't so effective after this departure either

You mean that player currently in the playoffs with Tranmere. What don’t people get, His style didn’t fit our formation. It happens, he was a good player. Let’s face it we really covered that position well since he left. Ling, Judd, Lawless, Turley, plus Uncle Tom Cobbley.

Just not the right man for what JE wanted, fine, don’t make him a bad player. In fact he has proved himself at a higher level that us in a team better suited to his style.
