The reporting is not helping the public make sense of what's happening. You've got to hope that those in charge are getting better numbers
It's not that easy to understand but I'd assume those in charge are getting the same numbers.
The number reported each day is the increase in the total number who have died at any time, now identified and confirmed (as far as that is possible) as having died from COVID-19. At least that's how I interpret it.
There's a chart here which shows when people died: with an indication that the totals for the past 5 days are subject to change (upwards).
The sooner the better.
My niece lives in New zeland
Yesterday they dropped down to 23 new cases .
They locked down 2 weeks before the uk.

Two and a half weeks of lockdown - how much longer chaps?
Up to the end of May at least I reckon.
Nearly 1,000 dead yesterday they can’t possibly even think about relaxing things.
I feel a bit sorry for the Police trying to sort out people this weekend who fancy a stroll out in a park or by the seaside etc
The economic damage being done is very bad and will take a long time to recover from.
The economic damage can be sorted out later and it's not important right now. What's important is trying to save as many people as can be possibly saved. Peoples lives are worth far more than any economic situation ever will be.
I didn't get one because I had a positive reaction to the skin test and therefore have natural immunity. I'm almost invincible my only weakness is beer.
Can't see any reference to Skype at the time? (Although I'm aware Downing Street subsequently issued a clarification/fabrication that he of course meant over Skype). Probably didn't mean he was still shaking hands with corona virus patients just a week or two earlier, either.
So he DID visit his mother in person on Mothering Sunday?
He was asked the question before mothers day &
Stated he would be visiting his mother with the use of technology as he had meetings in london on the sunday .
Have you got a link to the important bit, where he said ‘with technology’? Cheers.

Only 140 registered dead for yesterday so far actually.

French police turn back private jet of holidaymakers from UK
Seven men and three women arrived on the chartered aircraft to Marseille-Provence airport, where helicopters were waiting to fly them on to Cannes, where they had rented a luxury villa.
The men, aged 40-50, and women, aged 23-25, were refused permission to enter France and ordered by police to fly back to the UK
Just seen a mate on facebook this morning put up a status about waking up with symptoms this morning.

I don't know why some on here have a go at the government for not testing enough. I've just looked and we're ahead of Iran and Turkey for tests per million population. Makes you feel proud doesn't it. Well done Boris.

Can’t really blame Boris, he’s hardly been at work this year.
Matt Hancock says there is now capacity for all key NHS and care staff to be tested. We have 120ish people off isolating and were allocated 3 tests for last week.

Blimey, surprised you got that many! I'm sure Hancock would say something along the lines of "there are key staff and there are KEY staff...". He's a lying shithead isn't he.
