Tesco

Post by Thor »

I’m not sure paying out a £900m dividend whilst receiving state aid is the right thing to do in the present climate. Yes I get it that the results are for the prior financial period, but I’d say it’s crass to do this right now.

Does anyone disagree with me?

It’s a bit contentious, I’ll agree.

Did we ever get the full truth about the false accounting to support their share price so that the senior management and shareholders could get their dividends and bonuses? Anyone convicted?

Why the hell are tesco getting state aid? If there's one industry that's done well out of this it's the supermarkets.

Tesco aren’t getting any state aid from what I’ve heard.
There was something on the News yesterday saying they’re employing a load more staff to cope with the extra demand.

Is this a referral to business rates holidays? Supermarket shares jumped when Rishi Sunak announced them the other day.

But some would argue Govt has been subsidising low paying firms like retailers for ages, because of the working tax credit system allowing employers to get away with rubbish pay rates only because of the State top up available.

Is that not state aid then? Cos they are getting the benefit of £585m cool if you're happy with that. Just carry on.
