The IWM uses the terms evacuees and evacuated, and I can't recall any other terms being used. But, at the time, it was referred to officially as Operation Pied Piper.

It will get the racists frothing at the mouth, but Blitz isn't woke.

It telling the story of a mixed race kid (played by a mixed race actor) who gets lost whilst being evacuated during the blitz. There's a genuine story to be told about the existence of black people during that period of history.

What would have been woke (or an example of hyper-representation) would be to tell the story of ordinary people who were typical of the time, but just race swap the actors in a manner to suggest that current levels of racial, ethnic and religious diversity are the historic norm.
