Shaqford

I can't help but feel his performance on Saturday has been somewhat overlooked.
Only recently turned 19, only been at the club just over a week, making his first ever start in the Football League, and he totally bosses the 2 experienced CB lumps physically, runs them ragged, makes several 50 yard lung busting runs to help out defensively, and tops it off with a goal. He looks like he's played at this level all his life.
I was impressed with his 20 minutes up at Blackpool but totally blown away by what he produced on Saturday. The most talented of the loanees we've had in the past couple of seasons by some way, I can't see him not playing top flight football. I just hope Watford don't need him back this season.
The boy needs a song, and I'm going to start on that immediately.

Is he more talented than El Miz? Hmm.

He’s exactly the kind of threat in the box we have been desperately missing. The fact his first goal was a bit of a tap in from 6 yards out is encouraging to me because we just have not had that presence in the team for a while.
As you correctly pointed out, his work rate is impressive too. Whoever scouted him deserves some credit.

Foster scouted him, according to Travis

That's exactly how good I'm saying I think Shaq is, better than even El Miz.

Agree Shaq Forde looks like is a real talent & pleased we now have a goal scoring fox in the box No.9, who also as Max pointed out, run his socks off for the team up front stretching defenders, and also back in defence for the team.
Captain El Miz deserves to keep the armband, I dont care if he is a loan player, his performance and the teams performance on Sat deserves to remain as it was/is, with no changes, including the armband staying firmly on El Miz arm

In the long run it may help us in trying to secure El Miz on a permanent deal at end of season.
Stevenage be afraid, The O’s are coming for you on Sat

Not in my book has he been overlooked. For a first viewing of him on Saturday I was quite impressed. Yes, a tap in it might have been but he got in there amongst the bodies to poke home. I think he has that extra something ( Ruel is a different type of striker) we've been missing up front. He could be a bit of a handful for defenders. And we're talking at just 19 years of age!

Foster was also credited with scouting El Miz. If so he clearly has a good eye.

Absolutely ridiculous to even suggest, on the basis of 80 mins in an Orient shirt, that Shaq is better than El Miz.
El Miz is one of the best players ever to wear an Orient shirt.
Shaq looked good, but after one game, it's silly to compare him to El Miz

Yep, Turns was also a good find, it’s clear our scouting for transfers/loans in recent years has dramatically improved, the quality of players incoming is top draw.
Let’s hope the incoming players t try his week of same standard, especially the incoming FB?

Can I just point out that minus a certain reserve GK, I think we basically agree about every other player in the squad

we're bringing in a lot more longer term loans, and they are generally of a higher standard - where we really seem to have improved in recent seasons is our ability to market ourselves as a great place for bigger clubs to send their young talent to for competitive development.

Bit early for this.
But I was impressed and Richie talked about his attitude too.
Even though the goal was a tap in, we haven’t really had someone who scores those goals for ages. Last few seasons there’s been so many good balls across the 6 yard box and no one there to put them away.

Accept that - but I'm so convinced from the little I've seen, I've stuck my neck out. Everything about him is top notch.

After he was substituted he got a tremendous round of applause when he walked past the West stand . His performance on the day certainly wasn't overlooked by the Orient crowd . Talking to my friends at half time we were saying Shaq looks some player . He's just who we needed so well done to the club to be able to bring him here .

Yes I agree, no comparison, Ed Turns is way better but impossible to compare forwards to central defenders.

Why does it matter who's slightly better than who . They are all wearing Orient shirts so we just want them all to be better than the opposition .

Agree, but Red above was more to the point, 'why bother making a comparison, they are all Orient players !'.
