Re: The beautiful game
Sometimes I forget how weird it is to have dozens of fully grown men screaming f*ck off non stop at someone going about their job. Is there any other walk of life this would happen in? Scabs during the miners strike?

Re: Starman Awards
Right, but from a communications perspective, that's incredibly incompetent if it's not going to be formally addressed. They are in the middle of their biggest revenue period of the year with season ticket sales, putting out hints that the popular manager might be off almost as an afterthought is bi...

Re: Starman Awards
The vetting of these interviews is crackers, would have thought after Wellens had a full public dust up with the board and Ling in January that they'd have given whoever runs our media strong steer to not include bits from interviews that basically give away that the manager might be gone.

Re: Starman Awards
He's quite an odd bloke at times. Have said it before but I reckon he'd be much further ahead in his managerial career if he was a bit more savvy and diplomatic. Clearly isn't an issue of talent but his turnover of clubs for a young manager is high and managing disagreements the way he does is going...

Re: Barnsley sack manager
Barnsley have sacked their manager. I would think that RW must be a strong contender to replace him. Based on his criticism of some players after Saturdays performance and the clubs failure to match his ambitions it would not surprise me if he was offered the job.. Being close to home and the size ...

Re: Zech Obeiro
Looks a decent prospect and suits how Wellens plays. Wonder if it means we sign one less central midfielder than we otherwise would have done, assuming that Pratley, Moncur and El Miz aren't here next season.

Re: Best Central Defenders
He's fine, has the occasional brainfart but can handle a battle which we need as we haven't got a squad that is able to scrap much. I don't think he's a promotion quality center back but I guess the hope is that Cooper can kick on to be that player for us.

Re: Happy St George’s Day
This thread is supposed to be about the old tradition of celebrating St Georges and not the Rwanda bill going through. Suggest you or someone else starts a new thread on that subject ? What old traditions Sid? A feast day of St George has been celebrated in England for hundreds of years on 23 April...

Re: Happy St George’s Day
To be honest, I don’t think it’s going to work anyway but something had to be done. The French don’t seem to be tackling the people smugglers so I don’t think the Labour idea will work either . I can’t see immigration stopping until something breaks. What that break entails or how far down the road...

Re: Anyone think Richie might be off?
Do people have a reasonable limit to how much money we should be giving Wellens in order to keep him? What scale of losses should we be comfortable with to fulfill this? I ask as Wellens will leave at some point in the future, whether cause he keeps succeeding or it goes wrong for him. In either in...

Re: Anyone think Richie might be off?
Smyth had a bad injury in his first season with us then basically none at all during the second, the club actually managed to work out how to keep an injury prone player fit.

Re: Best Central Defenders
His distribution seems to be superb and he looks extremely comfortable on the ball. On a purely footballing level, can see why Wellens pushed for him despite the obvious baggage.

Re: Anyone think Richie might be off?
We're already guaranteed to have our 4th highest finish in 30 years, despite it being our first season up at this level and a horrendous injury situation. By a club our size standards, he has done an objectively superb job. I really don't know what some people were expecting from this season.

Re: Anyone think Richie might be off?
We already bleed money backing the manager. Going beyond what the current ownership can reasonably subsidise doesn't seem like a sensible idea, no matter who is in charge.

Re: Current squad players you want to keep
Wellens is on record as wanting someone new for that position. I like Galbraith, but he's not a goal threat and a lack of contributions from midfield has been one of the biggest issues we've had.

Re: RATINGS - POINTLESS EXERCISE
Agreed. He's been more than decent this season, aside from recent games where half the team has looked poor anyway. He is comfortable with the ball at feet and is pretty solid aside from the occasional brain fart. Can't think of a glaring weakness in his game. Doesn’t come for crosses. Poor distrib...

Re: Current squad players you want to keep
Sanders hasn't managed to stay fit enough to make a real judgment on whether he's good. He's had a few decent games and if he can stay clear of injuries I think he's a good depth option. With Brown it's tricky. He's progressed a lot this season and if he continues on that trajectory he'll be startin...

Re: Current squad players you want to keep
We've had a lot of depth at central midfield this season so there's an argument to be made that Pratley's wage would be better used on a new full back signing, so Galbraith doesn't have to cover there again. But at the same time Pratley is our only out and out ball winning midfielder that can effect...

Re: Current squad players you want to keep
We aren't going to have 4/5 no.9s. It'll be Ageyi, a new out and out striker to compete with Ageyi, a Forde type young loanee and Ruel filling in when needed. Ageyi being used as a no. 9 allowed us to shift some budget into signing another wide player, our depth on the wings is pretty strong if you ...

Re: Current squad players you want to keep
Big question will be whether we can get Mizouni back and if not, who his replacement would be. We also need to find the budget for a new no.9 to compete with Ageyi, a new number 10 who can stay fit and score, a new left back and a new keeper. We'll also have to find someone to do the Forde role of c...

Re: Exiles Thread.
It's the same core of a team that took us up. Felt they deserved better after a good season and an excellent couple of years. Felt a bit of a rubbish indictment of our fans commitment. Guess it's probably still the same core as ever and it just looked worse as our fanbase has grown a lot.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Total non event and an anticlimactic end to what has been generally a positive season.
Bit disappointed by the amount of fans that have left immediately after full time as well.
