She does. But, to be fair, the post-WW2 Labour government do too. They introduced steel reinforced concrete, RAAC, and some other construction materials and methods. Quick and cheap to build, but an absolute nightmare now. If you want to know what this looks like when it goes wrong, go to YouTube a...

Re: Well Done the Under 18's

Surely it should be an internal discussion between the parents and officials of Whitehawk FC. I can’t imagine the club are flush with cash to cover a coach regardless. It’s a weird one to try and make an issue of on here. ‘Oooh look at me, I spoke to the away teams parents at the fa youth cup match...

It's sounds like there is only one word appropriate to describe this housing crisis and that word is shambles. Its an utter shambles. No other way to describe it.

Question is, who is to blame?

Re: House selling prices

Far be it from me to drag up old threads just to prove I was right all along, but.... The ONS has just updated its house price data showing average UK prices in September 2023 (£283,680) were revised down by £7,705 (-2.6%) compared to the price originally reported a year ago (£291,385). They did th...

Oh look, it WAS Israeli propaganda, what a shock. https://x.com/DoubleDownNews/status/1858580292027773307 But the bigger “shock” is how News Agencies and Governments around the World were happy to propagate the lie, even when they 100% knew it was a lie. I just finished the 1st series of Wolf Hall and I really enjoyed it. Mark Rylance is bloody brilliant in everything he does, and this is no exception. Started 2nd Series last night and it seems to be just as good (and the substitutions at half time seem to be working out well) S2 is excellent. Ryla...

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2

New series of Day of the Jackal is, to my surprise, good. It doesn't try to recreate the film, but is a short series influenced by the book. I've watched three of the five episodes, so hopefully it doesn't tank in the final two, but so far this one is recommended. Watched it and it was OK. Redmayne...

Oh wow, I didn’t know there was a specific scheme in place for that. Maybe someone should let the farmers know? Most of them won't need to know because they won't be caught by IHT and those that will can obviously "gift" the farm to offspring now and hope to survive 7 years and pay no IHT...

One thing I would point out, however, is that many of these family farmers will not be able to finance any IHT payments, as their revenue is too variable and margins too tight to access anything but loans with a punitive interest rate. So you’ve bought into the ‘poor farmers’ thing? 😃 Let’s say a £...
