Re: Exiles thread - Brentford (A)

Quite a lot of encouraging signs from last night. Thought the midfield 3 looked quite comfortable and Warrington in particular moved the ball around really well. Up until the red card I thought both Simpson and Cooper were playing well and Galbraith was exceptionally lively when he came on. The diff...

Re: Ratings

If you think about that brief period just after Christmas last year where we went on that amazing run, it coincided with Agyei being fit and playing through the middle. Think he is far more effect in that role as he has the ability to either be very direct in his play, or hold the ball up and bring ...

Good for him that he’s been so prolific in the NL, but he’s definitely found his level.

Re: O'Neil

Thought he looked pretty lively against Bolton to be fair. The reality is, Birmingham are a club with a much bigger budget and player for player are better than us (albeit we were better than them on Saturday). Their fullback dealt with O’Neil well and he’ll have much easier afternoons in League 1 t...

Re: Ratings

Are people calling sweeney out just not fans of his and have this strange bias? Cos he had a half decent game yesterday. No better or worse than Clare The only negative thing they can mention is him struggling to control a neck high ball. Idiotic. He has bulked up and he’ll get stronger the more he...

Re: Ratings

I thought we were pretty good yesterday, and so did the Birmingham fans based on some conversations I had after the game. We moved the ball around well, particularly in midfield, and in the second half threatened in the final third as well. Unfortunately, when you’ve got teams like Birmingham in the...

Re: New England Captain

Kane had a very poor tournament but I think we set up in a way that didn’t suit him at all and that’s whT affected him, plus all these rumours that he was still struggling with a back injury (you have to think of that’s the case why did we play him). But still, he is one of Europe’s elite strikers a...

Re: Dan Agyei

Very glad to be more or less safe from relegation as it’ll be a big loss to us. He’s been the difference against big opposition of late, no doubt about it. Still, we look to next season and fingers crossed he’s fit for all of it.

Re: Ratings

Hard to mark as despite the score line, Carlisle were woeful. From where I was sat, standout performers were (in no particular order): - forde - moncur - brown - Archibald - Galbraith - James Honourable mention to O’Neill for one very good piece of play that resulted in a corner late on in the secon...

Re: Ed Turns recalled

TJ, Brown and even Pratley can do a job there if necessary….. Still far from ideal. seem to remember pratley pretty much playing an entire season at CB for charlton before signing for us and my charlton fan mate said he did very well, so that’s always an option, albeit we’re 3 years on from then now!

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window

For all the negativity around his fitness, I’d still say he’s one of our most gifted players in terms of ability on the ball. Such a shame he’s not been able to translate that into regular goal contributions as I had him down as another Sean Thornton when he joined us

Re: TRANSFER RUMOURS

What do you all think . Would Emile Acquah be a good signing or not ? Never heard of him before. Just looking at his Wikipedia page, and granted you don’t get the whole story just looking at stats, but if this rumour is true it’s amazing to think that 5 goals in 20 in League 2 can get you a move to...

Re: Richie Wellens Interview post Stevenage

Going back to the thread last week where we discussed whether to change up the personnel to match up Stevenage... looks like RW had the same quandary. To be fair the boarders on here who said we should play Beckles instead of Turns because of the aerial bombardment , looks like they were proven rig...

Re: Richie Wellens Interview post Stevenage

Started the game really well and if Ruel scores it’s a different game - but we concede from 2 set pieces and a wonder goal. On the whole we didn’t look like we were massively at threat in open play but it doesn’t change the results. We should’ve come out in the second half with a different plan and ...

Re: Sadlier rumoured to be on his way

Yeah, not gonna lie, I was pretty excited when he joined last season and had fairly high expectations, and was underwhelmed almost every time I watched him play. He did have some special moments, but he’s pretty slow, pretty lazy and I don’t think we really figured out his best position. One of thos...

Yes thought that might happen, only fly in the ointment is have we now got to many centre mids? Think most would have him back in a heartbeat 🙊 You say this, but I don’t think we can rely on Pratley to play as many games as he did last season. A midfield 3 of Idris, Moncur & Galbraith is very t...

Tough to mark as almost everyone was 8 or 9 first half and then we fell apart Vigs - 5 - nothing to do first half. Spilt the ball when he should have held it in the lead up the their 2nd and distribution was shocking at times. Hunt - 7 - linked up well with Smyth. Beckles - 4 - completely lost his ...

Good news: strikers scoring goals again Bad news: we were utter s*** in the second half and missed an opportunity to pull away from the playoffs. Still, that first 45 minutes of football was an absolute joy. I still can’t believe Paul Smyth is playing League 2 football. That guy is absolutely unbeli...
