The reason it doesn't work is because we don't have proper wingbacks or a proper decent holding midfielder. Most of the other points happen because of those defiencies.

JMD was useless in the first two games and rightly dropped.

Judd is going to be a flop isn't he. Probably third choice right back if all 3 are fit and a long while since he has had a decent game for us when fit. Perhaps 442 would suit him more, but he still wouldn't start above Ling or Turley.

IMO our best players for wing backs in a 5212 formation are Ling and Brophy. Our best full backs in a 442 formation are Turley and Widdowson. I imagine Turley and Widdowson will see plenty of playing time in either roll and also as back up centre backs. Throw Judd into the mix and we are very strong...
