Re: Batsh*t Thread
Sorry, China is without question well dodgy, if you could think of a country who would try and cover up either a **** up or nefarious activity they'd be right up the top of the list. I meant it that it's stating the bloody obvious, not to dismiss it. There is case for questioning the validity of any...

Re: Batsh*t Thread
Rich Tea - sorry, i'm not sure where you think the contradiction is. I'm not saying no one knows, I'm saying what is known is that zoonosis is a more likely explanation than the lab leak theory and that view has been strengthened, not weakened, with additional research. A lab leak has not been dispr...

Re: Batsh*t Thread
I am assuming neither of us have the ability to replicate the phylogenetic or epidemiological studies that have concluded that zoonoisis is the more likely explanation. I am assuming, like me, that you have no more than a vague understanding of the theory of how this can determine whether zoonosis o...

Re: Batsh*t Thread
I listened to a bit of that in the car when it came out. Again, I think I'll plump for the weight of scientific opinion rather than a podcast. No doubt the Chinese government hampered the investigation and they probably would cover up a lab leak if it had happened, but it probably didn't un this case.

Re: Batsh*t Thread
It's interesting that people think there is a building consensus that a lab leak is more likely when actually the overwhelming sciebtific consensus is that the research over the last few years has increased confidence in the likely cause of the outbreak being zoonosis. No one can say it wasn't a lab...

I will bet the cost of sending it off to be done that in a blind test you can't tell the difference between flac file and 320 kbs mp3. You can even pick the music.

As far as I recall I've only been to Alexandra Palace once (ATP thing with Swans and Portishead) but it was fine as far as I remember. Isn't the stage there just a temporary set up, so depends on how it's done? Also, people with rucksacks are almost always a complete menace, the bag policy is two cl...

'Prosecutor's seek' is the important bit there, which from a very quick Google would be expected to end up as around 6 month suspended sentence.

That is untrue. Plans were clear as far back as 2017. https://tfl.gov.uk/info-for/media/press-releases/2017/april/gla---mayor-plans-to-introduce-ulez-in-april-2019 (Edit - I see it was Susan Hall who has accused him of lying, which seems to be based on it not being in the 2021 manifesto that the exp...

Re: The trans debate
1. This is an opinion you have stated many many times. 2. Any issue where two people's rights are in conflict are difficult to resolve and require better minds than mine. In 99% of interactions in daily life all that is asked for is a modicum if respect. I can think someone who was born male shouldn...

Re: The trans debate
She told me, as an adult, that she had felt she was female as long as she could remember. Is it that hard to understand? You are free to interpret as you see fit, I have never insisted that other people share my views, hence your argument that I think all females have to accept her as female is a st...

They are an adult, I only knew her as an adult. I've pretty much lost contact over the last couple of years although I bumped into her at Baker Street a couple of nonths ago. Amazingly, while I asked in general how she was I didn't enquire about any discussions or decisions she had made about her tr...

Re: The trans debate
Do you understand that people who are female have the right to organise on the basis of being female and to reject the claims of male people that because they feel female, actual female people have to accept that they are female? Straw man Do you understand that many women believe that when a male ...

CEB, i suppose fundamentally i just dont actually care whether someone is 'actually male'. I just don't presume i knw better than someone's own sense of self. In an ideal word it'd be lovely if everyone was comfortable in the body they were born into, I make every effort to instil in my kid that the...

Having read the clinical panel report it seems entirely sensible and not quite what the headline reporting is suggesting. Happy to admit I was wrong about the Tavistock, I believed they were consistently following the best practice they claimed. I also think the Cass report was reasonable and makes ...

Re: Tory Watch
I'm at a loss to see what the backers of Reform hope to achieve apart from emptier bank balances. I think the long-term aim is to take over the Conservatives and put Farage in charge,.. the Tory membership would lap it up and the country might be daft enough to go for it at the election after the n...

What is it with your need to be debated, CEB? You post an average of nearly 6 times a day, I post an average of once every 3 days, mainly on the wordle thread when I find someone cheating. I usually use my phone which is best suited to a quick snidey comment rather than a thought out argument, I lit...
