Re: Do the very best footballers make the best managers?

Haha, I am not a Daglish fan but he got Shearer when Ferguson couldn’t. He made David Speedie a figurehead when he’d done nothing anywhere. He bought Sherwood for peanuts and made him a hell of a player. Same with Wilcox, Lesaux. Batty. I could go on. You don’t win the EPL if you can’t manage and h...

Re: Highlights v Plymouth

Difficult to make a great assessment from brief highlights, but what struck me was how disjointed the midfield appeared. When you're out of possession you either press high as a unit aiming to win the ball in the final third, or, allow the opposition possession whilst remaining compact and then forc...

Sad to hear the news that Eclair Surf lost his fight this morning, took a heavy fall at the third, and sadly never recovered.

Re: Highlights v Stevenage

Defending from both teams is poor, but we do appear to be slightly unorganised out of possession this season. We may have got away with one for our first goal, but as previously said, that’s football for you and it evens itself out. Their second goal is a tremendous strike, but I’m surprised the bal...

Re: Ling’s reign continues

Very interesting comments from Matt Porter on twitter, where he makes it 100% clear that Kenny chose every single player, the club do the due diligence with regard to cost, availability etc, but KJ has the final say. And Matt is clearly in the Martin Ling corner, so I don’t see Ling going anywhere v...

Spoke to a fellow coach who knows Ross well, and apparently Ross is spending time learning his trade and improving his experience coaching at various clubs.

Re: Sad to see Jobi leave

I think we have made a massive mistake in letting JM leave. He took over a weak squad, who gave him the typical ‘new manager bounce’ but then quickly dropped back to the standard they had previously shown. He would have learned so much in his short time, and I am convinced he would have made some de...

Re: McAnuff on Orient's defeat to Exeter

I don’t think he intended DJ to be so isolated. Probably not. Just down to miscommunication throughout the entire team. We seriously need a proper manager. Jobi is a " proper manager " in terms of mangerial attributes / leadership and communication quality - the only attribute that he has...

Re: 4-3-3

If you play 4 at the back then obviously you need two full backs - and from what i can see, we don’t really have one decent FB. Easy for me to say, but I’d be tempted to go with 3 at the back, and use three of our CB’s. Then play around with a 5 in front of them. Get a regular CDM to sit in front of...

Re: JOBI OUT

Everyone seems to be missing the point: Jobi isn’t a manager. He’s a fantastic player who has been given a manager job as it was the easiest/cheapest option. Until this club actually hires a manager we will be going nowhere. If you thought after our poor run he would come in and wave a magic wand a...

Some of the names mentioned are crazy, very few ‘decent’ managers would drop to where we are.

Re: Martin Ling

Whilst ML is in position I can’t see any satisfactory managerial appointment. ML won’t ever get sacked, he is laughing, so he will play patsy to the owners, who appear, for some reason, to have given him full control over appointments. I really can’t see any external appointment and just an internal...

Re: Sam Ling

Biggsy i am not saying that Sam is blameless - but merely that he is not the only poor player in a side that is bad out of possession, and that maybe some of the criticism is due to his family link to the club

Sam Ling

Find myself seeing another post match analysis which appears to be mainly focused on the failings of Sam Ling and can’t help but feel the need to speak about this. It appears that nearly every goal conceded is blamed on this lad and I really think there needs to be some level thinking here. From the...

Re: Exiles Thread – Cheltenham (H)

First goal is shocking out of possession play from start to finish. Cisse not tight enough for the pass that broke the midfield line, and gives the lad too much time to find his wide pass. Not sure what position the RB is taking up at this point but he’s allowing their LW so much space. Coulson ambl...

Re: Exiles Thread – Cheltenham (H)

The fella that scored the 2nd, is he the same player that ran unopposed into the box for the first? If so, that’s shocking tracking from Cisse maybe.

Normal People - worth a watch, two good lead actors

Chernobyl - Decent cast, compelling viewing. It's quite old I know, but scary to see incompetence and cover ups causing unnecessary death on a grand scale!

Simon Downer

Apologies if it's old news - but I only heard last night, that Simon Downer has started coaching at Swindon Town Academy and is currently looking after the U7's apparently.
