Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

Nobody asked for it, or no doubt cares, but I thought I’d give a ‘fresh eyes without bias’ perspective based on a solitary outing: Blimey, it’s friendly there. I think I’ve rarely encountered such a content fan base. Granted, I was in the family stand but there was zero bile from the terraces. I’m u...

Re: George Moncur

He played for Hull!

Absolute piss-take, just waddled around thinking he was prime Gheorghe Hagi.

He wasnt.

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

Update - I’m making my long-awaited debut tomorrow. And before anyone says, it’s not upturn in form related. My wife (Doris in the vernacular) bought tickets for a Christmas present, but I didn’t have the heart to criticise the north stand location. I’ve decided that we should take the approx 45 min...

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

Strange but nobody has mentioned the infamous Orient Initiation Ceremony? On the third minute of your first game you have to run across the pitch screaming ‘Cox! Cox!’ Only then will you be accepted and the full significance of this rite be explained to you. Otherwise, welcome!! Keep an eye out for...

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

My first thought was that this post smacks of a regular posting Tottenham fan on a wind up with a new alias. But, if it’s not, then welcome to Orient. It’s a very special club. Agreed with those percentages of the supporter base. So many people priced out of watching local big guns matches or wish ...

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

O's is correct, for 2 reasons. 1) it's the official version, 2) it's a valid way of pluralising letters, numbers etc. ( e.g. 1980's, she got straight A's in her exams). Just because lots of people get it wrong - such as in the examples you use - that doesn't make it acceptable to adopt them. This i...

The O's. We're not the 2 Ronnies as in "got any Os?".
I write for a living and the idea of including an apostrophe there turned my stomach, but I'll go with it if purely to integrate.

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

Whenever the next Saturday game you can do. Book in advance, North stand for families, East for old people and people that aren’t season ticket holders, south for chanting and having a pub in the stand, West for average people and watching Mat R***r Cheers, very useful. And you preempted my next qu...

Re: Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

1st rule of Orient Club is Never Call Us Leyton. Welcome, sounds like you'll fit right in. Aah, the David Lloyd era of getting locked out of Boothferry. Those were the days. I should unveil myself as the resident Hull aficionado, before I sound too weird. Derby cup game in January is only a tenner,...

Orient is full of glory hunters already pal!
You make a (roundabout) valid point that I hadn't even considered - what in sh*tting crikey do I do if Hull are relegated and we stay up?

Considering adopting Leyton Orient as my team

Alright, I have moved to E11 in the past couple of months and, as the subject states, I'm now looking for a club to adopt. Geography states that this should be Leyton Orient. So what do I need to know before I dive in headfirst for a lifetime of abject mediocrity? My knowledge so far amounts to red ...
