Re: Woke watch.

That's fair. He was doing Basil Fawlty esque jokes - rightly or wrongly - yet the headline and opening paras make it sound like he was randomly going full-on Bannon/Musk.

Re: Exiles thread - Stevenage (H)

He was alright first half - mainly early on - but completely anonymous after half time. Not really his fault, we just stopped playing and he was never going to thrive with us just punting the ball aimlessly up the pitch.

Re: US-based consortium close to £18m takeover

This almost makes me glad I’m emigrating to Australia in December ☹️ Why? Where in Oz you moving to? My wife is Aussie and wants to go home after 25 years here. It’s been coming for about 6 years now and I’ve finally agreed. I don’t really want to, but… We’re going to near Gosford on the central co...

Re: Exiles thread - Stevenage (H)

Worst game of the season. Goal and a few half decent saves from Keeley aside I don't think anyone comes out of that with much credit. Currie was alright, I guess. Maybe Cooper as well. The subs made zero impact. Well, zero positive impact, anyway. Although at least OON looked lively. Absolute dross,...

Re: Just Stop Oil

I actually know someone currently doing time for their - alleged - part in a JSO protest. Huge amount of respect for them. No idea why they've made this decision now, but perhaps the way the laws and courts are stamping down on people's previously hard won right to protest means there's just too muc...

I've listened to a fair bit of drill and you can't move for references like "egads! man's strapped", "bounder gonna get wetted!" and "dat shanking hath besmirched thine honour!".

Re: Labour Watch

Do some laws or something. I'll leave that up to Reeves, I'm sure she'll strive to come up with the answer since the only reason she went into politics was to help out disadvantaged kids. Shame, expected at least the effort of a Guardian comment piece or a Tax Justice link from 6 years ago :( Got a...

Re: Labour Watch

The one time I er, forgot, to declare some income while I *might* have been in receipt of JSA, they pinged me straight away and I ended up having to pay it back. There's plenty of mechanisms already in place to weedle out fraud. And even if there wasn't, 1000s and 1000s of people would have to be on...

You wrongly assumed I didn’t know anything about the family or the circumstances . At no point did I say what particular benefits make up the £2000 per month , neither did I claim to know. Again , bore off So you don't have all the facts then. That's cool, thanks for clarifying. You should have jus...

Wondered what the beef with him was but just checked his record and, apart from decent enough stints at Oxford (one L2 promotion) and Lincoln, it is pretty...not great.

A daughter of a friend of mine is an alcoholic ( recovering but relapsing ) , she has three children under nine by different fathers , and she receives £2000 a month and has done for at least the last five years. Genuinely interested in the "without having a negative impact on services" caveat to that question. I would bet a hefty amount that those same people would also decry the current state of those same services.
