Can we please stop including PETA stuff in “woke watch” - they’ve got a deliberate PR strategy of ridiculous stuff like this that has the sole intention of creating a media “lol are they mad?!!” nonsense. They’re also a bunch of c***s This x1000 Bunch of wanks who live on manufacturing ludicrous ou...

The heavyweights and thought leaders of British society are weighing in. Greg's got no chance now. "Rod Stewart, whose wife, Penny Lancaster, appeared on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, used his Instagram account later on Thursday to comment on Wallace’s break from the show. Calling him a “tubby...

Re: Type 2 Diabetic. Any tips re alcohol
Is it just me or do alcohol-free drinks taste chemically? Some of the poorer ones seem to taste of burnt caramel, but Guinness 0.0 is the best of the lot. I can hardly tell the difference (except, of course, that I don't have the impulsive need for another). Spent a day at the Rugby at Murrayfield ...

Re: FAO Tories and UKIPers
Just looking at the signatories data, they're spread very evenly. Vast majority of constituencies have a four figure number of signatories, only a few have 3 figures. Seems a bit unusual to me. Almost as if bots are ensuring they spread their vote around. Even 650 people in the outer hebrides const...

Re: Duct-taped banana artwork sells for $6.2m in NYC
You’re correct, however the banana itself isn’t the artwork (and the act of eating it is itself an inherent part of this particular “artwork’s” concept); the piece comes with detailed instructions on replacing the banana and the tape. It’s essentially a physical NFT, the “owner” has purchased the r...

Re: Duct-taped banana artwork sells for $6.2m in NYC
Basically the point is that the high end art world is a racket, and that things such as this exist only as a handy way of storing money. The narrative around such artworks is useful not in what it says about art or about the world, but about simply presenting a plausible context for such transactio...

Very sad to hear this. However, I hope Theo can take some comfort from the story of his fellow Scot - Lewis Vaughan - who suffered, and recovered from 4 (yes FOUR) ACL injuries - 2 in each leg. A lesser man might have buckled - but he was determined to get back to playing and did. 'Mon Theo - keep a...

Re: House selling prices
So is the expectation that owner-occupiers will have to sell up because they can't afford maintenance charges etc ? So there'll be lots of flats coming on the market (driving prices down) but with big liabilities in terms of maintenance?
Or what ?

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
I just finished the 1st series of Wolf Hall and I really enjoyed it. Mark Rylance is bloody brilliant in everything he does, and this is no exception.
Started 2nd Series last night and it seems to be just as good (and the substitutions at half time seem to be working out well)

New series of Day of the Jackal is, to my surprise, good. It doesn't try to recreate the film, but is a short series influenced by the book. I've watched three of the five episodes, so hopefully it doesn't tank in the final two, but so far this one is recommended. Watched it and it was OK. Redmayne...
