Re: The Labour Manifesto
A real choice for the first time in my lifetime. Only a choice if you are left wing. The right have a choice between the Tories who are now fiscally liberal as well as socially liberal so not conservative at all or Farage who is not even standing in my constituency. May have to vote green and try a...

Re: The Labour Manifesto
That's the thing. Nobody will read it. It could be the most deliverable and bestest manifesto in the whole wide world, but if Corbyn remains unable to connect with target voters then none of this matters. Watch how the Tories react to this. If they continue to push Brexit as the priority over domest...

Re: Prince Andrew
Oh, and for the avoidance of doubt, 15 years, 11 months and 28 days is still a bad paedo. The line must be drawn somewhere.

Re: Prince Andrew
Interesting question, RedO. By my reckoning:
16 and above = good paedo
15 and under = bad paedo
Appreciate that the threshold is up for debate, so happy to be put right on any points I am unsure of.

Re: Prince Andrew
The Queen has always been savvy enough to take the right advice when managing her public image. She's from a generation that knew the fear of revolution and republicanism. But her children and grandchildren are more prone to take their parasitic privileges for granted. Andrew's whole approach has gi...

Re: Tories reach new low
The NHS: 1. More investment is needed in medical and care staff. 2. The administration and operational management is awful (and has been for years - regardless of funding). Fixing that will be very complex and would require tough change-management skills. 3. Cuts to other services means that the NH...

Re: Johnson v Corbyn
I was listening to LBC yesterday afternoon and a caller who said he was lifelong labour supporter said he could not vote for Corbyn as his policies would destroy this country. Whilst he did not like Boris, he said he would be voting for him as he was the lesser of the two evils. He went on to say t...

Re: Johnson v Corbyn
I can sort of understand why people will perceive Labour’s Brexit policy to be weak. However, as has been proven, we’re struggling to deliver the outcome of a Direct Democratic event through a Representative Democratic institution. Labour’s policy does, at the very least, give us a path to do that. ...

Re: Johnson v Corbyn
It doesn't matter who 'won' the debate. What matters is what the few swing voters in key constituencies think. And do you think they are more likely to be represented by: A - 1,600 45+ boomers who answer the house phone to YouGov, or; B - 29,665 millennials on Twitter? I reckon the YouGov poll is mo...

Yougov poll Boris 51% Corbyn 49% Boris is the winner Not agreeing or disagreeing, however I have a hunch that Corbyn's team are the happiest this morning. Anyway, it's also worth looking at a few of the underlying indicators beneath that (very tight) Yougov headline result: Trustworthy Corbyn 45 Jo...

It was okay for a panto. Neither leader was able to develop their arguments due to the pacing. But I think that both managed to avoid any major f*** ups, which was probably the main aim.

Re: Johnson v Corbyn
Corbyn very strong on domestic issues and is able to speak in a manner that will resonate with many voters on a human level. If he can just avoid a f*** up he could win the second half.

Re: Johnson v Corbyn
Trying to perceive how a casual swing voter may have judged that, I'd also say they'd consider Johnson to have edged the first half.
Johnson still betting the house on Brexit being a significant factor in voter intentions, which I think is a gamble that could backfire.

Re: Election watch
I'm struggling to see Corbyn as anything but an idiot, which all previous Labour prime minister's and most of their MPs think as well. Fine. He is not an idiot, however. He may not be an intellectual colossus, he may lack the cynical ruthlessness of Johnson, he may even be described as naïve at tim...

The ‘visible’ homeless are just the tip of the iceberg. The problem is far worse than many people realise.
