Re: Snowflake upset with tv show

I'm sort of with spenantic666 on this. Boris (or, Cummings) is applying a shrewd, calculated and cynical approach. Even when it appears to be chaotic (Gove turning up at C4), it is actually very carefully planned. Whether or not following this strategy will prove to be 'sound judgement' will be reve...

Re: Chief Rabbi speaks

After Labour gets stuffed in this election Corbyn will be swiftly removed as the leader of the Labour Party If he doesn't become PM and if it looks like the Tories are going to be a relatively stable government then yes, he will step down. The next leader will almost certainly be Angela Rayner imho...

Re: Meat a threat to our planet?

We either reduce our levels of consumption (unlikely), or we reduced our population. That is the answer to pollution, climate change and all manor of other ills humanity faces in the future. And if we fail to implement the solution voluntarily, at some point nature will do it for us. As for the anim...

Definitely. I hear that Candler's tax-dodging consultancy business is doing okay, so we could tap him up for a few rounds.

Yes we do and it's people like you in your Nissan Micras, Kia Prides, Chevrolet Matizes and Suzuki Altos clogging up the roads doing 20 mph who prevent honest working drivers from making a living and bring out the worst of their otherwise placid natures My first car when I was 17 was a Suzuki Alto....

Re: Tax System exactly like buying a round

In my old age I now find that any biscuits trigger my ulcerative colitis. Really? That can be a, er, sh!tty ailment which can really restrict your diet (off the booze too?). Sorry to hear it if you’ve got it bad, Dunnem. Thanks, slacks. Not too bad for me. I was hospitalised a year ago with it, but...

Re: Election watch

It could be effective. At first it was part of a strategy to split Corbyn's support within the Labour membership. The majority of the electorate were never going to factor it into their decision on who to vote for. But now it's being implied by certain 'influencers' on social media that antisemitism...

Re: Election watch

ICM Research poll, 22-25 November (changes since 15-18 November): CON: 41% (-1) LAB: 34% (+2) LD: 13% (-) BXP: 4% (-1) Difficult to say how this would translate into seats, but consensus is that a gap of less than 10% puts us back into hung parliament territory. Direction of travel not looking good ...

Re: Election watch

Must be closing that gap in the polls. I said after the last debate, watch the reaction. If the focus remained on Brexit, then that implied the Tory's research and analysis suggested they had nothing to worry about. If it was on something else, then it suggests Cummings is worried. They're worried.

Re: Tax System nothing like buying a round.

It's almost as if you get what you pay for.

What's worth noting is that Labour's tax and spending proposals are not even as high as Scandinavia. It's just a mere nudge in that direction. And yet the rabid reaction from some sections would have you believe that it's a full on communist revolution.

Re: Election watch

I definitely believe these surveys. Just look back to June 2017. I've read some analysis that the raw data behind the latest Observer poll is almost identical to what they had in 2017. And the interviews were conducted up to just before the Friday televised debate. You could be right; there could b...

Re: Election watch

They'll all have a margin of error. Which is why I think one, at least, would need to be indicating the Tory lead down to 10% for Labour to have a realistic chance. But they're not.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter what the polls say at this stage.

Re: Election watch

Opinium/Observer poll last night gives Tories 19% lead and 47% of the vote. Smallest Tory lead being predicted by polls so far is about 12%. Datapraxis also ran 270,000 YouGov interviews through their own predictive MRP model (like the ones that predicted the last election). This is the first big el...

Re: Election watch

Boris looked lightweight all of a sudden. He was not comfortable in this situation. Regardless of your views of Corbyn, he has to be respected as a seasoned campaigner. Boris is falling into the same trap as May. But that still returned a Conservative government.

Re: The Labour Manifesto

Agree that domestic issues matter more to most people. But most people do not matter in this election. That's the thing. You're also right to point out the public perception of Corbyn's ability as a leader. That will be a crucial issue for target voters if Labour are to stand a chance of forming a g...
