Re: Older Orient fans
Older people were schooled to believe that things which are written carry authority. Because, 50 years ago, they did. Of course, nowadays any halfwit with a smart phone can go online and share their brainfarts, so the typical piece of writing found online is much much less authoritative than what yo...

Can't be Holloway. Anyone who has made a public utterance about their views on Brexit is automatically disqualified on account of their divisiveness.

Re: Do we lack some characters in this team?
It seems so obvious what the major factor in the downturn in performances across the whole squad is - but because he's lurking in the shadows on the side of the pitch, and not out on the field commanding your the crowd's attention for 90 minutes, so many of us somehow can't see that far. And no, it ...

Re: Ekpiteta
I agree with you in part. But Crewe had a hatful of chances last night. Embleton is unable to convey a sense of control, structure and organisation to the team, and his changes seem to be somewhat half-baked rolls of the dice than anything deeply considered. Not saying he won't make a good manage so...

Re: Ekpiteta
I'm wondering how strong the correlation between these two groups is: Ekpiteta can't handle the step up in class from National League to League Two Ross Embleton is one of our own, get behind him, PASSION The biggest drop-off in performance levels since last season has been our defence. Obvs Angol &...

Re: 100 Years Ago - Orient in 1919
We finished 2 points behind Arsenal WTF did we not apply ? Shakes head in disbelief Clapton Orient were extremely annoyed at what was going on and also complained to the Football League. The villain of the piece was Sir Henry Norris. Norris bought his majority stake in Woolwich Arsenal in 1910, and...

Re: 100 Years Ago - Orient in 1919
1919 was a fascinating year - often overlooked by historians as it falls between the Armistice, and before the "Roaring Twenties". Transitional in nature, just like Orient's season, and 2017/18 :-) Lots of nasty race riots across the West that year, including on Cable Street - often overlo...

Once again, he didn't defect. He was kicked out, and then subsequently chose to join another party. It remains (lol) to be seen where he chooses to stand next time around. There seems little point any of these MPs standing down and triggering a by-election now, when a General Election is so close. P...

Re: Attention Brexiteers (Only) - Did you want a No-Deal-Brexit
Spike, I’m afraid that the premise of this exercise is bunkum, because the deal/no deal dichotomy simply didn’t exist in 2016. It didn’t feature in public debate, and none of the people now retrospectively claiming that they felt a certain way about this question 3 years ago are suffering from hinds...

Re: Embleton comparisons
The phase "too good to go down" has been heard on this forum before. Respect the league and the opposition, we have no divine entitlement to stay up this season so have to go out and earn it, not assume there will definitely be someone worse. In more than 3 decades since promotion from th...

All in all, Kevin and Ross ,very little comparison to me in playing careers or level of football management skills. Sid, you quite literally just compared the two to one another. ;) If you mean there are few similarities in terms of their playing careers, yeah obvs. I'm trying (only partly seriousl...

Re: Embleton comparisons
I have to admit it was a very entertaining game yesterday but after all the club has been through these past five or six years I just want us to get enough points to be safe ASAP. If that means being a bit boring and negative to win enough points to stay up, so be it. We're not getting relegated. Y...

When? The only one you could argue he did this successfully in the first match of the season, which we did win narrowly - but we were chasing more against 9 men at the end. Not exactly "shutting up shop"

Embleton comparisons
As a manager, he reminds me a bit of Kevin Keegan - passion, energy, enthusiasm, all successfully conveyed to and expressed by the team. A swashbuckling, high-tempo "we'll score more goals than you" attitude, that will lead to some entertaining and thrilling matches, even in defeat. But th...
